Salary Range: $150,000 - $225,000
The Associate General Counsel supports the legal function of an ENR Top 50 construction company, working closely with the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Legal team. This role provides practical, business-focused legal guidance across departments, with a strong emphasis on contracts, risk management, and litigation support.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary legal resource for the Purchasing Department, supporting the negotiation of subcontracts and purchase orders in alignment with company policies.
- Partner with the Marketing Department to review proposal responses and ensure compliance with legal disclosure requirements and awarding authority regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and support contract administration efforts across the company.
- Provide pre-litigation and litigation support, including legal research, discovery coordination, and management of outside counsel.
- Track and manage litigation and administrative proceedings, including maintaining calendars and key deadlines.
- Support the development and defense of claims by working with internal teams and assisting outside counsel with investigations, discovery, and legal processes.
- Assist the Accounting Department with public reporting and registration requirements, including preparation and filing of corporate documents such as annual reports, resolutions, and joint venture agreements.
- Contribute to internal training initiatives, including supporting Consigli University and delivering content on construction law and the Code of Conduct.
- Maintain and update Legal Department resources on the company intranet, including templates, guidance documents, and training materials.
- Provide general legal support across business units as needed.

Required Experience
- Juris Doctor from an accredited ABA-approved law school.
- Admission to the Massachusetts and/or New York bar.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Experience with construction law and litigation.
- Familiarity with AIA contract documents.
- Experience as a practicing litigator preferred.
- Broad exposure to construction law, including public sector projects preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance, contract, employment, labor, and ESOP-related matters preferred.
- Experience working with OSHA regulations preferred.
- Admission to additional state bars such as ME, CT, NY, DC, VA, MD, or NC is a plus.
