Role Overview

We are hiring an Associate General Counsel to serve during a period of hypergrowth. This role reports directly to the General Counsel. It is an opportunity to shape and scale an emerging Legal function that also serves as a business thought partner and guide. A successful candidate will be a high-energy problem-solver who consistently drives results.

This role is hybrid and based in the San Francisco Bay Area (preferred).

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams across the company to provide practical legal and strategic guidance on a broad range of corporate, commercial, operational, product, regulatory, employment, and risk-related matters.

  • Help build and scale legal and operational infrastructure to support a fast-growing global business in an efficient and pragmatic way.

  • Support the development and management of company compliance, governance, and risk-management processes across multiple functions and jurisdictions.

  • Advise leadership on evolving legal, regulatory, and business risks relevant to high-growth technology and AI companies.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to balance business objectives with thoughtful risk assessment and scalable decision-making.

  • Contribute to high-priority company initiatives outside of your immediate subject-matter expertise and operate as a versatile business partner across the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Strong business judgment and ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice in a fast-moving environment.

  • Broad experience across corporate, commercial, operational, regulatory, employment, privacy, compliance, and general technology-related legal matters.

  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to quickly learn new areas of law and business operations as company needs evolve.

  • Low-ego, highly execution-oriented mindset. Someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and handling both strategic initiatives and day-to-day legal work.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, business-friendly guidance for cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, highly collaborative environment with globally distributed teams.

  • J.D. and active membership in at least one state bar with ability to practice in-house in California.

  • 6+ years of legal experience, ideally including a mix of law firm and in-house experience.

  • Strongly preferred: prior experience supporting high-growth technology or AI-driven companies.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive and thoughtfully structured compensation package designed to align with impact and growth.

Base Salary: The anticipated salary range for this role is $225,000 – $275,000 depending on experience, skills, and location.

In addition to cash compensation, we offer equity and a benefits package to support you both professionally and personally.

Higgsfield AI is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
