Job Description

General Summary:

The Associate Director will be responsible for delivering commercial insights to inform strategic choices and impactful US market access strategies that result in favorable patient access across multiple disease areas in the Vertex portfolio. This person will collaborate with disease area leads in US Access Strategy to maintain a pulse on critical business questions and formulate and execute an insights plan (involving either primary market research and/or data analytics) to answer them.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Function as a key partner to the Access Strategy disease area leads and provide objective perspectives and insights
  • Formulate a comprehensive insights generation plan to address a spectrum of business questions using appropriate methodologies
  • Independently design and execute primary market research that addresses key business questions
  • Define data analytics needed to answer ongoing business questions and support/oversee its execution
  • Participate in multiple disease area analytics coordination forums, which provide cross-functional alignment on analytics activities supporting each program
  • Maintain a current summary of all the US access insights supporting a disease area
  • Liaise with the cross-functional team to ensure all access insights are incorporated into broader brand strategy and identify any opportunities for cross-customer research

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expertise in the US market access environment (e.g., payers, health systems, pharmacies, health policy and reimbursement)
  • Depth of knowledge in a variety of primary market research methodologies; substantial experience managing design and execution of primary market research projects
  • Strong complex quantitative analysis skills; experience running own analyses as well as partnering with advanced analytics professionals, and interpreting results
  • Deep understanding of the biopharma commercialization process; experience with go-to-market approaches and launch planning
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills – able to synthesize and distill complex information into a compelling narrative
  • Proactive orientation - able to anticipate issues, engage with stakeholders and plan accordingly
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor and thought partner to stakeholders
  • Comfortable with ambiguity; able to effectively structure problems and solution approaches

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline required; graduate degree (Masters or higher) preferred
  • Typically requires 8 or more years in bio-pharma marketing, market research and/or analytics, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range:

$157,800 - $236,700

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
