Our Opportunity:
Chewy is hiring an Associate Director, Pricing Product Management for our Pricing Data Science team; the preferred location for this position is Bellevue, WA, but Boston, MA or Ft. Lauderdale, FL are options as well. In this role, you will own our roadmap of machine learning and AI projects and will work with our engineers across every stage of the project lifecycle - from ideation to proof of concept to test and validation to scaled deployment. The ideal candidate will love pets and will have a customer-centric and data-driven approach, as well as experience leading successful ML launches, conducting thorough experiment design and impact measurement, efficiently using cloud compute and storage resources, and implementing alarms and automation to reduce post-launch operational burdens.
Your portfolio will cover a broad range of technical domains - including neural networks, reinforcement learning, generative AI and LLMs, natural language processing, causal modeling, tree-based models, and econometrics - so while deep subject matter expertise in a particular domain is not required, the ability to work with research scientists, data scientists, and ML engineers who have expertise in a wide range of fields is. Does this sound like you? If so, we would love to hear from you! Come run with the Pack!
What you'll do:

  • Define project objectives, business requirements, and measurable goals
  • Conduct market and customer research to ensure projects align with business needs
  • Establish project timelines, achievements, feature prioritization, entry and exit criteria
  • Maintain relationships with cross-functional customers and track technical dependencies
  • Evangelize plans, drive adoption of new capabilities, and see opportunities for improvement
  • Report on progress of initiatives in monthly business reviews and other forums

What you'll need:
  • 3+ years of product management experience in software, e-commerce, or data-driven technical field
  • 3+ years of experience with data science or machine learning projects
  • 6+ years of total work experience and demonstrated track record of innovation and impact
  • BS degree in a technical field, such as computer science, mathematics, economics, or statistics
  • The ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with both technical and business customers
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, bias correction, and A/B testing
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, results-oriented agile development environment

Bonus:
  • Master's in Business Administration or Applied Data Science
  • Experience with pricing, promotion, and demand elasticity models
  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms, especially AWS
  • Experience working with big data tools (e.g. Spark, Hadoop)

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
