Oncology & Emerging Markets
Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking an experienced market development leader to expand adoption of our sequencing technology across oncology and other high-growth markets in the Americas.
This role will identify and develop new applications, customer segments, partnerships, and market opportunities where Oxford Nanopore can deliver meaningful scientific and commercial value. You will work across sales, marketing, product, medical, regulatory, and government affairs teams to help move promising applications from early research use toward broader adoption and scale.
What you will do
  • Identify and validate new market opportunities across oncology, clinical, research, and applied genomics
  • Develop market development strategies with clear priorities and measurable commercial outcomes
  • Build partnerships with customers, KOLs, academic institutions, clinical organizations, biopharma companies, and professional societies
  • Lead evidence-generation initiatives that support adoption and market entry
  • Translate scientific and market insights into compelling commercial value propositions
  • Support sales teams on strategic accounts, pipeline development, and complex opportunities
  • Provide input into product, workflow, and portfolio strategy
  • Help shape standards, guidelines, and market-access pathways where appropriate
  • Build repeatable frameworks and best practices as the global Market Development function grows

What we are looking for
  • An advanced degree in genomics, molecular biology, life sciences, medicine, or a related discipline is preferred. A PhD, MD, or MBA is advantageous.
  • Significant experience to Next Generation Sequencing or extensive experience in genomics or oncology.
  • Demonstrated success in market development, commercialization, strategic partnerships, or market creation
  • Strong understanding of clinical, research, and applied genomics markets across the Americas
  • Experience working with KOLs, scientific collaborators, professional societies, or policy stakeholders
  • Ability to translate complex science into clear commercial and customer value
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and influence in a global, matrixed organization
  • A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach and comfort working in an evolving environment
  • An established network across relevant oncology, genomics, clinical, biopharma, or policy communities
  • Willingness to 30% travel across the Americas

The salary for this role is between $160,000 and $185,000 USD. The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate. Certain roles within ONT are eligible for annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. Employees based in the US have the option to choose healthcare benefits, participate in the company 401(k) plan and company match, we also offer short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and commuter benefits to name a few.
