Cooley is seeking an Associate Director of Geo Marketing to join the Marketing and Client Development team.
Position summary: This role is part of the Strategy, Transformation & Growth Team, which acts as the firm’s "central nervous system," building the scalable infrastructure and data-backed frameworks that allow Marketing & Client Development to move from reactive execution to proactive, high-impact strategy. It ensures that strategic choices and unique brand differentiating experiences (spanning high-end events to targeted digital channels) are translated into repeatable, optimized market performance that makes the firm stand out in market. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position responsibilities:
- Market-Aligned Strategy: Develop and lead the firm’s overarching strategy for events, client hospitality, and sponsorships to ensure all initiatives are tailored to specific market needs.
- Strategic Programming & Cross-Selling: Partner with market leaders and business development teams to design high-impact programs that drive client engagement and create measurable cross-selling opportunities.
- End-to-End Event Oversight: Oversee the comprehensive strategy, planning, and execution of all firm-hosted, market-based events to ensure seamless delivery and professional excellence.
- Sponsorship & ROI Management: Evaluate and manage sponsorship opportunities in collaboration with Business Unit Marketing to maximize brand visibility and ensure a strong return on investment.
- High-Touch Client Hospitality: Lead the hospitality strategy for priority clients and marquee firm moments, maintaining strict brand standards and coordinating closely with client development teams.
- Governance & Process Design: Establish clear criteria, standardized processes, and formal governance structures for evaluating and approving event and sponsorship investments.
- Impact Analytics & Reporting: Measure and report on the effectiveness of all activations, specifically tracking pipeline impact, relationship depth, and overall brand sentiment.
- Conversion & Follow-Up Strategy: Orchestrate post-event follow-up strategies in coordination with client development teams to successfully convert attendee engagement into tangible business opportunities.
- Vendor & Agency Relations: Manage complex relationships with external vendors, luxury venues, and creative agencies to guarantee high-quality execution and cost-efficiency.
- Team Leadership & Enablement: Lead and deploy a market-based team while developing best practices and self-service tools that empower the broader organization to execute at scale.
- Internal Executive Events: Lead the strategy and execution for high-stakes internal gatherings, including partner summits and leadership retreats, to foster firm-wide alignment.
- People Leader:
- Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports
- Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned work hours and monitor for compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage, review and process time logs/time off requests
- Support business professional development and continued educational opportunities
- In collaboration with immediate supervisor and central HR, participate in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling, termination and other employee lifecycle events
- All other duties as assigned or required
Skills and experience:
Required:
- After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
- Ability to travel, as required
- 8+ years of applicable experience in the field (e.g., marketing or business development, preferably with an emphasis working in a strategy, transformation, or growth function), with 4+ years management experience (some at the senior level preferred)
- Must have professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience
- Must have experience working with local business organizations for the purposes of brand and relationships opportunity
- Must have experience with TicketManager and CRM
- Bachelor’s Degree

Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE.
The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $200,000 - $240,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate. Senior level candidates may be considered for this position and would be eligible for a higher salary range based on experience.
