About the Role:

Hims & Hers is seeking an Associate Director to join our Customer Insights & UX Research team on a full-time, six-month contract. In this role, you’ll lead high priority research initiatives that help shape how we understand our consumers and bring their voice into business, product, and brand decisions.

You’ll serve as the strategic insights lead across multiple categories, partnering closely with senior stakeholders in Marketing, Product, Brand, Comms, and Clinical to identify knowledge gaps, design research programs, and translate findings into actionable strategies that drive business impact. This is a temporary position for 6 months.

About You:

You’re a seasoned insights leader who combines research expertise with strategic intuition. You’ve mastered both foundational and fast-turn research approaches, know how to connect insights to key business objectives, and can influence decisions at the senior level. You bring deep curiosity about human behavior, an ability to “connect the dots,” and a passion for storytelling that makes data come alive.

You’re comfortable juggling multiple research objectives at once - from exploratory to evaluative, qual to quant, foundational to tactical - and choosing the right methodology to fit each business question. You thrive in environments where priorities evolve, navigating complexity with structure and clarity.

You’re equally at ease managing vendors and running research yourself - from study design and moderation to synthesis and executive storytelling, and you know how to balance rigor with pragmatism to drive impact.

You Will:
  • Lead research for two emerging categories while overseeing thought leadership and marketing claims initiatives that shape brand and business strategy.

  • Act as the go-to insights expert for assigned categories, deeply understanding priorities and identifying opportunities where research can drive impact

  • Design and manage end-to-end research, including vendor selection, contracting, methodology design, and analysis

  • Translate complex data from multiple sources (quant, qual, clinical, claims) into clear insights and business implications

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, Brand, Comms, and Clinical Research to align insights with business goals and inform strategic decisions

  • Influence senior stakeholders, framing insights in the context of business challenges and opportunities

  • Track and socialize the impact of insights initiatives, ensuring visibility and alignment across teams

  • Elevate insights storytelling, ensuring the consumer voice is represented in strategic and creative forums

  • Collaborate with other Insights team members to connect learnings across categories and identify broader themes

  • Contribute to process and operational excellence in the Insights function (budgeting, vendor management, legal guidelines, and knowledge management)

You Have:
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, and UX research (mix of client- and agency-side experience preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic, multi-stakeholder research programs end-to-end

  • Proven experience influencing senior leaders and connecting insights to tangible business outcomes

  • Deep knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies

  • Strong project management skills; comfortable managing multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills - able to distill complex insights into simple, compelling narratives

  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and shifting seamlessly between strategic and tactical execution

  • Familiarity with healthcare, wellness, or DTC industries is preferred

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):
  • Competitive salary compensation

  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days

  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leave

  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)

  • 401k benefits with employer matching contribution

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives and prioritizes ethics, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging. If you're excited about this role, we encourage you to apply—even if you're not sure if your background or experience is a perfect match.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
