About the Job:

The Assoc Dir, Corporate Strategy develops long-term and short-term corporate strategy consistent with FMI’s mission and vision in close collaboration with the executive team. This position is responsible for evaluating new strategic directions and growth opportunities in support of corporate strategy. Additionally, the incumbent partners across the company to integrate, embed, and align corporate strategy across all organizational levels, and may lead additional efforts within and across functions to optimize process workflows. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging market dynamics, and competitive developments and assess their potential impact on FMI's corporate strategy
  • Partner with the Executive Team and senior leaders to develop, align, and communicate FMI's corporate strategy, annual objectives, key results, and strategic priorities to the company
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on progress toward annual and long-term strategic objectives and key results, including planning and facilitating quarterly business reviews
  • Lead the enterprise business planning process, ensuring clear alignment from corporate strategy to functional and portfolio strategies, priorities, budgets, and objectives
  • Serve as an internal strategy consultant to executives and business leaders, helping define, frame, structure, and solve complex business challenges with enterprise-wide and cross-functional impact
  • Lead high-priority strategic initiatives from problem definition through recommendation and implementation, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and desired business outcomes
  • Facilitate executive and cross-functional discussions to drive alignment, clarify priorities, resolve issues, and accelerate decision-making
  • Develop data-driven analyses, business cases, recommendations, and executive-level communications that enable informed strategic and operational decisions
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments and competing priorities to build consensus, influence outcomes, and drive execution across functions and organizational levels
  • Effectively communicate and champion FMI's corporate strategy with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (ie. MBA, MPH, MS or other related)
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible work experience in a strategy, market insights, analytic or consulting role within the biopharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, life sciences or related industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of therapeutic or diagnostic development and commercialization
  • Knowledge of oncology industry, including external trends and issues in the global oncology landscape
  • Strategy or consulting experience strongly preferred
  • History of generating effective strategy resulting in optimal organizational outcomes
  • Prior work experience:
    • Leading complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives from problem definition through implementation and measurable business impact 
    • Conducting and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative analyses to support strategy development, business decisions, and executive recommendations
    • Structuring and solving ambiguous business challenges in dynamic, matrixed organizations
    • Establishing and managing senior-level stakeholder relationships across functions, levels, and external partners
    • Influencing executive and organizational decision-making through data-driven insights, business cases, and strategic recommendations
    • Presenting regularly to executive leadership and facilitating discussions that drive alignment, prioritization, and decision-making
  • Demonstrated competencies in the following areas:
    • Ability to connect market dynamics, business performance, and organizational priorities to drive effective strategic decisions
    • Ability to simplify complexity, frame ambiguous issues, identify key drivers, and develop practical solutions
    • Ability to build trust, navigate competing priorities, and drive outcomes across a highly matrixed organization
    • Ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling recommendations tailored to senior leadership audiences
    • Ability to adapt quickly, manage uncertainty, and maintain momentum while balancing multiple priorities
    • Ability to lead cross-functional discussions, build consensus, resolve conflicts, and accelerate decision-making
    • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor
    • High level of resourcefulness in finding answers and solutions when information and data is not readily available and solving open-ended problems
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $158,400 - $198,000 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicine’s compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
