Merchants Fleet is looking for an Associate Client Development Manager to join our Client Development team. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of Tier 3 clients, serving as a trusted partner focused on client retention, engagement, and long-term growth. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys understanding client needs, uncovering opportunities, and connecting customers with solutions that make their fleet operations more effective. You’ll work across leasing, fleet services, and technology solutions while developing the skills needed to grow into strategic account management. 


Location: Remote 

Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000 dependent on experience and qualifications 


What You’ll Do 

  • Grow existing business: Own revenue growth and penetration goals while identifying opportunities to expand relationships through upselling, cross-selling, leasing, and value-added services. 
  • Build strong client relationships: Serve as the primary relationship manager for an assigned portfolio, maintaining proactive communication and delivering insights that support client success. 
  • Drive retention: Monitor client engagement and portfolio health, identify at-risk accounts, and take action to strengthen relationships and protect revenue. 
  • Manage orders and forecasts: Partner with clients to develop and execute monthly and annual vehicle forecasts, ensuring accurate and timely ordering aligned with client needs. 
  • Expand Merchants solutions: Identify and introduce products, services, and technology that provide additional value while creating opportunities for growth. 
  • Own the sales pipeline: Maintain accurate client activity, opportunities, forecasts, and engagement information in Salesforce. 
  • Deliver client insights: Develop and present small fleet scorecards for designated clients and use data to identify opportunities and areas for improvement. 
  • Collaborate across teams: Partner with Sales, Regional Vice Presidents, and other internal teams to support client onboarding, account transitions, strategic initiatives, and key projects. 
  • Engage clients: Conduct regular virtual check-ins and quarterly strategic conversations, with occasional travel for high-value client meetings and events. 

What You Bring 

  • 2–5 years of experience in sales, account management, client development, or the fleet industry 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field 
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships and identify growth opportunities 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills 
  • Ability to confidently engage with stakeholders at all levels of an organization 
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills 
  • Self-motivated and able to effectively manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines 
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong focus on customer success and continuous growth 
  • Experience communicating with and supporting client stakeholders
