JOB OVERVIEW:

This position will be responsible for supporting the Dental Career Planning (DCP) program by delivering non-clinical career education and 1:1 guidance to dental hygiene students and early-career hygienists. This role helps expand DCP’s school partnerships into hygiene programs, increases engagement on studentdentist.com, and strengthens the pipeline of future dental professionals through neutral, practical coaching on the job search and early career decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Career education and coaching (hygiene)

  • Deliver hygiene-focused career education covering resume/CV development, interviewing, and the business side of dentistry for emerging professionals.
  • Educate students on compensation basics and early career decision-making (including how to evaluate opportunities and understand contract fundamentals as applicable).
  • Provide 1:1 career planning via office hours and scheduled appointments, supporting students from preparation through first-job decisions.

School partnership support (hygiene programs)

  • Build and maintain relationships with dental hygiene programs to schedule seminars, workshops, and office hours as DCP expands into hygiene.
  • Coordinate campus visit planning, event logistics, and follow-ups with program leaders and student groups.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align hygiene school engagement with broader Direct Dental / recruiting initiatives.

Website engagement and mentorship marketplace

  • Drive student participation and content engagement on studentdentist.com as the DCP portal for students.
  • Support mentorship opportunity promotion and matching, helping practices showcase mentorship (including remote mentorship) as a differentiator for harder-to-fill markets.
  • Collect and triage student submissions (resumes, questions, career preferences) and ensure timely coaching follow-up.

Program operations and impact tracking

  • Track activity and outcomes (for example: presentations delivered, student engagements, resume reviews completed, office hours held, and school coverage) to support program growth goals.
  • Capture recurring student questions and feedback to improve hygiene-specific programming and resources.
  • Coordinate with recruiting/services teams so DCP insights help inform market needs and pipeline strategy (especially where hygienist supply is constrained).

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of AS400, Product Information Management system such as Informatica 360, JD Edwards and Microsoft Office. Strong Excel skills a must. Communication and prioritization skills required.
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills (comfortable leading seminars and 1:1 advising)

  • Basic planning/organizational skills and techniques
  • Good decision making, analysis and problem solving skills with ability to multi-task

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
