Job Description:

Berklee College of Music is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Director of Student Accounts (Temporary) to join our dynamic Student Accounts team. This role plays a vital part in managing and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of student financial data, supporting billing and payment operations, and ensuring smooth financial processes that directly impact our student community’s experience.

At Berklee, creativity and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to fostering a student-centered environment where every team member contributes to the mission of empowering students to pursue their artistic passions while balancing academic and personal growth. If you’re passionate about working in a mission-driven, inclusive culture that values work-life balance and innovative problem solving, this opportunity is for you.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Student Accounts and Associate Director of Operations to manage student account technology, systems, and operations — including Ellucian Colleague, PowerCampus, Workday, and Informer reporting.

  • Support billing processes, data accuracy testing, and quality control reporting to ensure proper revenue classification and smooth financial transactions for students.

  • Assist with managing student receivables including tuition, fees, housing, donations, and auxiliary income.

  • Handle financial aid transmittal posting, health insurance waivers, computer support fee reconciliation, and miscellaneous tuition adjustments.

  • Coordinate with partner offices to resolve data discrepancies and improve system accuracy.

  • Support communications to students and families regarding financial obligations, contributing to improved customer service and student retention.

  • Help streamline business processes and ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies.

Who you are:

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree or have at least 5 years’ experience in a Student Accounts or finance office within a nonprofit or higher education setting.

  • You’re experienced with higher education ERP systems such as Ellucian Colleague, PowerCampus, Workday, or similar, with strong database and advanced querying skills.

  • Comfortable with Apple OS X, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Filemaker, and other relevant software.

  • You have a solid understanding of accounting principles, collections, and cash management.

  • You work efficiently and accurately, taking initiative with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills allow you to effectively engage with students, families, and staff.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills help you manage policies and documentation clearly and precisely.
