Job Description:

Ironside is looking for a motivated Assistant Account Manager – Commercial Lines to support our growing Mid-Market team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for a recent college graduate who wants to build a career in commercial insurance, learn from experienced professionals, and take on meaningful responsibility.

We’re looking for someone who is hardworking, detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn. You should be comfortable asking questions, accepting feedback, and working through challenging assignments. Strong organization, clear communication, and consistent follow-through are essential.

You’ll work alongside account managers and producers to support renewals, new business, and everyday client service. As your knowledge develops, you’ll gain exposure to more complex accounts and participate in client and carrier meetings. No prior insurance experience is required.

We are only considering candidates living in Massachusetts or in the bordering states as this is an onsite and partially remote position.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist account managers with renewal preparation, including gathering updated client information, applications, insurance schedules, and loss runs.
  • Track deadlines, follow up on outstanding information, and help keep account work moving.
  • Help prepare submissions, proposals, coverage comparisons, and other client materials under the team’s guidance.
  • Support new business opportunities while learning how accounts are marketed to insurance carriers and coverage is placed.
  • Assist with certificates, policy change requests, billing inquiries, and other service needs under supervision.
  • Check documents for accuracy and completeness, flag discrepancies, and follow through on corrections.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, carriers, wholesalers, and internal team members, referring coverage questions to the appropriate account manager.
  • Participate in client and carrier meetings, take clear notes, and help complete follow-up items.
  • Maintain organized account documentation and take on increasingly challenging assignments as your skills develop.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong work ethic, personal accountability, and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Close attention to detail when reviewing documents, entering information, and communicating.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn technical concepts, ask questions, and apply feedback.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach.
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets, documents, and email.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying responsive and engaged with the team.
  • Willingness to obtain a Property & Casualty license and continue developing your insurance knowledge.
  • Previous internships, customer service, or office experience are helpful but not required.

Benefits:

At Ironside Insurance Group, our Total Rewards Package consists of:

  • Competitive compensation package, including:
    • Base salary
    • Performance-based increases and bonus opportunities
  • 401(k) with up to a 4% company match after 90 days
