Pittsburgh Paints Company is currently seeking an Architect and Design Representative to cover our Northeast Territory to include the following states: Maine/Massachusetts/Connecticut/New Hampshire/Rhode Island/Eastern Upstate New York/Vermont
As the Architect + Design Representative, you are an important specification driver establishing and maintaining our architectural specification share through our commercial paint products and color tools. You will work with these partners to generate specifications and color schedules to paint and maintain new and existing commercial buildings and monumental projects.
You will work in a remote role across the seven state territories and report to the Specification Area Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus is on new construction but will include existing building renovations as a mix.
- Project tracking and planning, communicating plan, allocating tasks and setting milestones.
- Call on firms who influence specifications for commercial businesses, building/office space, retail, hotels, and resorts.
- Develop relationships with firms/customers to determine relationship.
- Once relationship is status is established, you will further use presentations to influence the project specification as an approved manufacturer.
- You will address both product systems on the technical side and the color schedules on the design side and must have the higher-level understanding of complexity and proficiency of both.
- Hold technical paint system conversations with specification writers and discuss color schemes with interior designers.
Qualifications
- 5+ years minimum experience in outside sales required.
- High School Diploma required.
- Sales experience to influence Architectural Specifications.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and web-based applications (Construct Connect, BSD, AVITRU, BIM/REVIT), and CRM experience.
- Preference is given to subject matter specialists in AIA MasterFormat and CSI/CDC Three Part Format, IIDA or ASID.
- A member of industry associations is encouraged; existing architect and interior design contacts will be given additional preference.
- Must understand the relationship between Owner, Architect, Designer, General Contractor, and Painter.
- Travel within the territory and at minimum 2 overnight stays per week to ensure long sales cycles are converted into sales.
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
