Build and own software systems supporting Tutor’s go-to-market operations. Develop CRM capabilities, AI agents, sales workflow automation, market-mapping tools, and integrations with robotics, deployment, documentation, and agent platforms. Work directly with sales and demand-generation teams, attend customer activities, and improve tools based on pipeline, conversion, and seller-time outcomes. The role requires substantial independent software development and close embedding within a business function.
About Tutor
We believe robots are the biggest lever we have to making the physical world a better, more affordable place. But robots are a rounding error in our society: nearly nine out of ten American factories and warehouses don’t even have a single robot, and robots have yet to make their way into our homes or places of business.
Tutor Intelligence is changing that.
Tutor is a robotics research and deployment company, building generally capable robot hardware and artificial intelligence to enable robots to go where no robots have gone before. Sonny is a semi-humanoid robot with frontier dexterity approaching the human form. Cassie does back-breaking work, moving boxes, pallets, and bulk goods for businesses from family-owned manufacturers to some of the largest brands in the world. Tutor robots are manufactured at scale and operate as a network, combining the whole fleet’s learned experience to train ever more capable robot artificial intelligence.
Founded at MIT and headquartered in Watertown, MA, our team is full stack: we design and manufacture robot hardware, train our own models, work directly with the smallest and largest end-customers, and maintain our fleet across the United States. We’re a team of researchers, engineers, technicians, operators, and sellers who love building things and solving hard problems.
Our mission is grand: robots everywhere, for the common good, raising the standard of living across North America, and then the world.
The Role
As our first Applied AI Engineer on Go-to-Market, you'll build the operating system for how Tutor finds, wins, and grows customers across the physical economy. You'll design the process flows and change the shape of the work, and you'll do it by writing a lot of software: building whole workflows, tools, and AI agents from scratch rather than configuring someone else's.
This is a technical role where you write and own software, and you'll embed as a true member of our go-to-market team, owning outcomes for that team through technology. You'll sit in the GTM room alongside our account executives, sales enablement, and demand generation, and you'll treat go-to-market as part of the wider Tutor system: our robots, deployments, data, and the AI that runs them. Most of your work will be self-directed: start from a goal, and build the system that fits around it.
You'll join our forward-deployed AI engineering team: a strategic team of engineers already embedded across deployment, manufacturing, maintenance, and hardware and software engineering, using AI to change how each of those functions works. You'll be its first engineer dedicated to go-to-market.
You'll start by taking over and extending go-to-market tools we've already built. From there you'll steward the area as the business grows, using the tools alongside the team and improving them to handle more scale and complexity.
What you'll work on
- Architect and build the systems our go-to-market motion runs on, including CRM features and data models built from scratch where off-the-shelf tools fall short.
- Build AI agents that automate sales workflows end to end: account research, outbound, call prep, follow-ups, and deal qualification.
- Use AI and software to map our markets and our penetration across the physical economy, and turn that analysis into where we go next.
- Connect go-to-market to the rest of Tutor's stack (robot performance and deployment data, our demo center, internal docs, and our agent platform) so sellers can show customers real outcomes.
- Take over and extend the tools we already have, and keep them working as the team and the business scale.
- Go where the work is: sit with account executives, join customer calls and trade shows, see deployments, and find the next system to build.
- Measure what you ship by the outcomes it moves: pipeline, conversion, and seller time.
What we're looking for
- You've architected and shipped a real system end to end, whether product, internal tooling, or infrastructure, and can explain the design choices behind it.
- You write working software (Python or TypeScript, SQL, APIs) and build with LLMs and AI coding tools every day.
- A technical background with a spike somewhere else: product, strategy, operations, sales, or founding something. Your path probably hasn't been linear.
- Demonstrated passion for, interest in, or experience with go-to-market: selling, growth, partnerships, or building for sales teams. You don't need to have held a go-to-market title.
- High slope: you learn fast, take on ambiguous problems with little direction, and want to make a mark.
- You want to be embedded in a business function. This is not a product engineering or research role.
Nice to haves
- Experience with operations, manufacturing, logistics, or other industrial customers.
- Built go-to-market systems at an early-stage B2B company, ideally hardware or robotics.
- Technical program management, product management, or a past founder or first-of-function role.
- Data warehouses and BI tools.
