Design and evaluate application solutions to meet business needs; review developer code for alignment with design patterns; collaborate with product managers, BAs, and developers; support integrations, security, compliance, budgeting, and stakeholder relationships; coach developers and govern consistent application delivery.
The Applications Architect is responsible for evaluating an organization's business needs and determining how IT can support those needs leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure. This individual will have an expert level understanding of programming methodologies and will be able to evaluate code to ensure alignment with existing design patterns and approaches. Their day-to-day interactions will encompass business, system, information, security, application, and technology architecture for The Baldwin Group.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review internal and external system solutions required to meet business requirements and influence adoption.
- Work with business and tech teams to build out solutions for requested enhancements.
- Review developer code to ensure alignment with existing design patterns prior to release.
- Provide occasional coaching to the development team to reinforce coding standards.
- Work with Digital Product Managers, BAs, and developers to create client solutions.
- Participate in various meetings as a key member of the IT organization.
- Support business initiatives to onboard and integrate new sources of revenue.
- Support the development of annual budgets for information technology projects.
- Serve as technical liaison with direct relationships between IT, business owners, clients, and other external partners.
- Support business priorities with a consistent application delivery strategy and governance structure.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to support implementations, security, and compliance and help minimize risk.
- Knowledge of Azure or AWS cloud environments strongly desired
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and help resolve issues / problems
- Ability to communicate effectively with several different types of stakeholders
- Ability to handle the fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
- Bachelor’s Degree in technology related field
- 5+ years working in Insurance or Financial Services
- 5+ years working in a solution architect role
- 7+ years of overall development experience
