Analyst, Enterprise Risk Management (Data Science and Portfolio Risk Management)

The Analyst manages risk analysis, monitors loans, advises on credit risks, and supports data-driven decision-making processes at the bank.
The Analyst, Enterprise Risk Management (Data Science & Risk Management) works under the guidance of a Portfolio Risk Manager and/or Advisor. The Analyst will lead and manage risk analysis in coordination with other departments to ensure maximum protection of the organization's credit assets. Using business tools and applications, analyzes specific portfolios (Auto, Mortgage, Retail, Commercial & US Loans) to monitor risks and reduce the probability of default or loss outcomes. Aids bank’s management in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and controlling of credit risk. This position will be working hybrid based in Oriental Center building, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure risk and controls are effectively managed.
- Accountable for the credit risk monitoring of loan portfolios.
- Support in the oversight and monitoring of credit concentration and policy exceptions limits.
- Advise in the development of agile and proactive tools and mechanisms for monitoring and forecast credit risks performance metrics.
- Manage to monitor credit risk metrics to ensure they are within the thresholds, tolerance, and/or parameters defined in bank’s risk appetite framework.
- Support bank’s management in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and controlling of credit risk.
- Analyze scoring models effectiveness – retail and commercial and recommends enhancements / improvements to ensure accurate results that support a loan portfolio growth.
- Provides advise and expert analysis to portfolio risk management to create awareness of the risk assessment framework in compliance with established bank's risk appetite.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
- Two (2) years of experience in data science, programming, databases, risk analysis or related required. Banking experience preferred.
- Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
- Strong experience with statistical analysis tools (R, Python, SQL, Snowflake & others), data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and machine learning algorithms for risk assessment required.
- Knowledge of risk management frameworks, combined with the ability to manipulate large datasets to extract actionable insights.
- Proven ability to create and deploy predictive models to mitigate risks and improve decision-making processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to explain complex data-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders required
- Strong skills in the use of operational tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and cloud-based data analysis platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, multitasking, teamwork, and ability to work effectively with vendors is required.
