Lead architect and SME for Epic interoperability: design complex interfaces (bidirectional, FHIR APIs, cloud services), drive enterprise interface projects, resolve Cloverleaf/Bridges issues, maintain standards and KPIs, liaise with clinical teams and vendors, and mentor analysts.
The Epic Bridges Analyst III serves as the primary architect and technical subject matter expert (SME) for the Epic interoperability landscape. This role is responsible for leading complex, high-risk interface projects, establishing technical standards, and mentoring other analysts. The Lead ensures that the integration strategy aligns with the organization's broader clinical and financial goals while maintaining KPI uptime standard for mission-critical data exchanges.
Responsibilities- Lead the design and architecture of complex interfaces, including bidirectional integrations, FHIR APIs, and cloud-based web services.
- Drive the interface project lifecycle for enterprise-wide initiatives, including new hospital acquisitions or major module rollouts (e.g., Beaker, Willow).
- Serve as the final escalation point for the most complex Cloverleaf and Bridges engine errors; perform root-cause analysis for recurring systemic issues.
- Develop and maintain the Master Interface Spreadsheet and standard naming conventions; establish Best Practices for error handling and alerting.
- Act as the primary liaison between clinical leadership, third-party vendors, and the Epic Technical Coordinator (TC).
- Conduct peer code reviews for Level I and II Analysts to ensure high-quality builds and adherence to security protocols.
Required:
- 6+ years of Epic Bridges build and support experience with a proven track record of leading at least two full-cycle implementations.
- Expert-level proficiency in HL7 (v2/v3), FHIR, EDI (X12), and XML.
- Healthcare industry experience
Preferred:
- Advanced scripting knowledge (Tcl/Tk for Cloverleaf) and experience with cloud integration (Azure/AWS).
- Knowledge of Laboratory/Diagnostics workflows and instrumentation.
- Experience in Laboratory/Diagnostics industry.
Travel Required:
- Domestic travel up to 15%
Required Education:
- College degree in computer science, information science or equivalent work experience
Required Technical Training or Professional Licensing:

Bridges certification and Cloverleaf Level 2 (or equivalent engine certification).
