Are you ready to unlock intelligence?

If you don’t think you meet all of the criteria below but are still interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box - we’re looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.

Kong's IT team is building an internal AI Enablement Specialist function — a group that goes directly into business teams and helps them work smarter through AI. We're hiring an entry-level practitioner to join that effort and grow with it.

You'll work alongside senior team members on real projects: mapping where AI can help, building tools that address specific problems, and supporting the people who use them. This isn't a passive learning role — you'll be doing real work from day one, with mentorship and support to help you develop quickly.

We're looking for someone who already uses AI tools in their own work, thinks critically about what those tools can and can't do, and is eager to learn how to build with them — not just use them.

What you'll do:
  • Work alongside senior team members to assess business workflows and identify where AI tools could meaningfully improve how work gets done.

  • Build and iterate on AI automations, prompt-based tools, and lightweight applications based on team feedback and real usage.

  • Participate in coaching sessions with business team members, helping people get comfortable with AI tools through hands-on practice.

  • Maintain clear documentation for the tools and workflows you help build, so others can understand, adapt, and build on them.

  • Test AI tools before they go to users — identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases that matter in a real work environment.

  • Track and report on how business team members are progressing in their AI skill development.

  • Research emerging AI tools and platforms and summarize what's relevant for Kong's business context.

  • Follow Kong's AI governance guidelines and collaborate with IT and Security to ensure tools meet internal standards.

What you'll bring:

Minimum Requirements

  • 2–3 years of professional or project-based experience — internships, independent work, or coursework all count if you can demonstrate what you built or accomplished.

  • Practical experience using AI tools in your day-to-day work, with clear examples of how you've applied them beyond basic question-and-answer use.

  • Genuine curiosity about how AI tools work and a drive to understand them at a deeper level than most users do.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills — the ability to explain a technical tool or process to someone who's unfamiliar with it.

  • Organized and reliable in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift and multiple workstreams run at once.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building with AI APIs, automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n, Claude Code, Gemini Enterprise), or scripting tools.

  • Any coding or scripting background — language matters less than demonstrated initiative and the ability to learn quickly.

  • Experience explaining technology to non-technical audiences, whether through peer tutoring, training sessions, or informal support.

  • Familiarity with common enterprise tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, Jira, or Salesforce.

  • Knowledge of or interest in Kong Konnect, API management, or how AI models connect to enterprise systems is a plus.

Why work at Kong?

Kong sells the picks and shovels of the AI era — the API and AI gateway infrastructure that lets enterprises connect, secure, and govern every application and AI model in their stack. Our products (Kong Gateway, Konnect, and AI Gateway) are used by thousands of organizations worldwide to power their most critical digital workflows.

The people who join this team get something rare: the chance to drive an AI transformation from the inside of a company that literally builds AI infrastructure. You'll have visibility across every business function, genuine ownership over your work, and a direct line from your tools to measurable company impact. No bureaucracy, no busy work — just real problems and the resources to solve them.

We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, flexible remote-first work, and a lean culture that values people who take initiative and get things done.

About Kong:

Trusted by the Fortune 500 and startups alike, Kong's unified API and AI platform, Kong Konnect, enables organizations to secure, manage, accelerate, govern, and monetize the flow of intelligence across APIs and AI models. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
