ROLE TITLE

AI Alchemist

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

This role is open both as a Co-op position (for students in a term placement) or a Full-Time hire. Please indicate in your application which you are applying for.

LOCATION

This is a hybrid remote position based in the Greater Boston area. While much of the work can be completed remotely, this role requires regular in-person collaboration with key stakeholders at our Cambridge, MA office. Candidates should be within commuting distance and comfortable coming on-site as needed for meetings, planning sessions, and team activities.

WHO WE ARE

Ready Education is a fast-moving ed-tech company that’s re-imagining the student experience. Trusted by 700+ institutions and 10 million college and university students we deliver a unified platform built to foster engagement, strengthen community, and drive student success through cutting-edge technology.

Our mission: to empower campuses to thrive—by enabling students and institutions to access meaningful connections, smart tools, and intelligent workflows every day.
We live by the values of relentless innovation, diversity & belonging, accountability, client delight, and a yearning for excellence.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As our AI Alchemist, you will report directly to the CEO and serve as a driving force behind how we work—and how we build. Whether you join as a co-op (during your term) or full-time, your role is to work at the intersection of business strategy, intelligent automation, and internal tool design. You aren’t simply an “assistant” to the CEO—you’re the architect of the AI-powered systems that support and supercharge leadership, operations, and company processes.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Partner with the CEO to conceptualize and build agentic workflows that automate, optimize and scale how the organization operates.
  • Evaluate and select tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies that form the foundation of internal systems at Ready Education.
  • Design and implement custom internal tooling—dashboards, AI assistants, workflow engines—that empower the leadership and operational teams.
  • Craft intuitive UI/UX experiences for internal tools so that non-technical users (executives, managers) can reliably leverage AI-powered systems.
  • Work alongside executives and management to re-imagine business processes from first principles through an AI-native lens.
  • Document system architectures, workflows, tool-chains and best practices to ensure scalability, knowledge sharing, and future innovation.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Proficiency in Python and experience building applications (or strong demonstrated ability).
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in software product design, UI/UX, and experience design.
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks, APIs, or agentic systems is a strong plus.
  • A builder’s mindset: you enjoy turning ambiguous, strategic visions into functional prototypes and production-grade tools.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills—able to translate between business strategy and technical implementation.
  • Self-driven and collaborative: you enjoy working with senior leadership, while also owning independent workstreams.

YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU

  • Treat automation as a creative craft rather than just coding.
  • Want exposure to working in an early-stage tech company backed by one of the country’s leading private equity firms.
  • Want to work side-by-side with a very experienced CEO/entrepreneur and leadership team to influence how a company functions end-to-end in an agentic world.
  • Are excited about experimenting with bleeding-edge AI tools and building new paradigms of work with them.
  • Have a passion for rethinking how traditional  things work and moving them into the next generation.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • Direct mentorship from the CEO and visibility into strategic leadership decisions.
  • Real-world impact: you’ll be designing systems that reshape how Ready Education works—from the inside.
  • A portfolio of meaningful projects that blend AI, business design, product thinking and operations.
  • If you choose the co-op route: a stage of professional immersion and rapid development. If you join full-time: an opportunity to embed in a growth-stage firm shaping its future.
  • The chance to pioneer AI-native organizational design and tooling in an ed-tech context.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit your resume, any portfolio or project examples (if applicable), and a brief note explaining:

  • why you are excited to join as an AI Alchemist at Ready Education,
  • which employment type you are applying for (Co-op or Full-Time), and
  • one example of a workflow or internal tool you would redesign or build from scratch if you joined us.

Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender perception or identity, national origin, age, marital status, protected veteran status, or disability status.
