The Actuarial Analyst is an entry-level actuarial role designed for individuals who have demonstrated strong analytical aptitude and a foundational understanding of actuarial concepts through academic achievement, actuarial examination progress, or related experience. This position is ideal for candidates who are highly motivated, intellectually curious, and eager to develop their actuarial expertise within a collaborative environment.
The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for analyzing dental experience data and supporting a variety of actuarial reporting and analytical initiatives. This role requires strong quantitative and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to transform complex data into meaningful business insights.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive actuarial analyses ranging from client-specific evaluations to broader book-of-business reporting using datasets of low to moderate complexity.
- Analyze dental experience data and identify trends, patterns, and key findings to support business decision-making.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation that communicate analytical results to internal stakeholders.
- Support the development and maintenance of actuarial reports, models, and analytical tools.
- Provide guidance and support to internal partners regarding actuarial reporting and analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data, calculations, and reporting deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business questions and support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- 2 or more years of related analytical or actuarial experience preferred.
- Candidates with less professional experience may be considered if they have demonstrated actuarial potential through successful completion of actuarial examinations.
- Completion of at least one actuarial examination is required for candidates without relevant work experience.

- Ability to manage a high-volume, queue-based workload while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 18. $57,500 - $120,000.
