Revamp is seeking a 3D Electrical Design Engineer III to lead the development and coordination of 3D models for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. The models you produce become the drawings construction teams use, so accuracy, constructability, and sound technical judgment directly support safe, timely project delivery.
In this role, you will independently lead significant portions of complex projects and coordinate several assignments at once. You will formulate and solve multidisciplinary layout challenges, review deliverables, mentor designers, and represent 3D design work in client and project meetings. Working with civil, structural, and electrical engineers. And construction stakeholders, you will help Revamp deliver purpose-built, impact driven designs that advance utility-scale renewable generation.
Duties & responsibilities Core technical & functional responsibilities- Contribute to the development, coordination, and maintenance of complex 3D models, layouts, and renderings for utility-scale PV and BESS projects in Autodesk Inventor.
- Develop production-ready 3D representations of battery energy storage systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, cable management systems, equipment pads, racking, structural supports, and balance-of-system components.
- Formulate and solve electrical layout challenges involving cable routing, cable management systems, conduit and trench coordination, equipment clearances, grounding, and equipment interconnections.
- Own assigned project models, including model organization, revision control, file management, and documentation integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
- Resolve spatial conflicts, constructability issues, and interface conditions among civil, electrical, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
- Produce and review sheet sets, technical drawings, details, and renderings derived from 3D models.
- Contribute to the development of modeling techniques, templates, libraries, and automation approaches that improve design quality and throughput.
- Participate in evaluating emerging modeling technologies and digital engineering workflows, and recommend practical applications for project teams.
- 3D design coordination for multiple concurrent PV and BESS projects or significant portions of complex projects.
- Assist in developing scopes, level-of-effort estimates, schedules, resource needs, and technical assumptions for 3D design activities with guidance when needed.
- Identify technical risks, coordination conflicts, and schedule impacts early, and recommend a path to project leadership.
- Support fabrication, procurement, and installation planning with coordinated, constructible models that align with project requirements.
- Review models, drawings, and design deliverables through formal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes for technical accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
- Review vendor- and client-supplied models before incorporation, and document discrepancies for resolution.
- Confirm that assigned work conforms to company standards, client requirements, applicable industry codes, and jurisdictional regulations.
- Coordinate designers assigned to project deliverables and align their work with project schedules and priorities.
- Develop training materials, technical documentation, and lessons learned that strengthen consistent practice across the team.
- Coordinate model interfaces and constructability with civil, structural, electrical engineers, and construction stakeholders.
- Present models and visualizations in client design reviews, and answer questions about equipment layout, cable routing, and constructability decisions.
- Advise project managers and discipline leads on modeling strategy, sequencing, and technical trade-offs in project meetings.
- Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, design, drafting/CADD, or related technical discipline, or similar applicable work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering design, technical design, or drafting for power generation, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience using Autodesk Inventor or equivalent software to prepare 3D infrastructure designs, in a professional design environment.
- Electrical design experience involving cable routing, cable management, grounding, equipment interconnections, and equipment layout for large-scale power generation or comparable industrial projects.
- Experience coordinating design work across civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.
- Experience producing and reviewing sheet sets and design documentation derived from 3D models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple concurrent assignments with limited guidance and exercise sound technical judgment.
- Experience with utility-scale BESS and solar PV projects.
- Advanced experience with AutoCAD or related Autodesk design tools.
- Knowledge of direct current and alternating current systems, cable schedules, conduit and trenching, cable tray, grounding, and equipment interconnection.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards, or related electrical and safety standards.
- Experience mentoring designers or supporting client-facing design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
- Participation in Revamp's Employee Ownership ESOP program.
- Competitive compensation with bonus.
- Full benefits package offerings including 99% employer-paid health, vision, life, and dental insurance.
- Medical, dependent care, and commuter FSA.
- Monthly health and wellness stipend.
- Attractive vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
- Paid parental leave.
- 401(k) savings plan with 100% match up to 6%, vested immediately.
- Paid volunteer time off and charitable donation matching.
