2027 Global Controllers - Financial Analyst Internship

Boston

At BBH, Partnership is more than a form of ownership—it’s our approach to business and relationships. We know that supporting your professional and personal goals is the best way to help our clients and advance our business. We take that responsibility seriously. With a 200+ year legacy and a shared passion for what’s next, this is the right place to build a fulfilling career.

Are you an aspiring Financial Analyst drawn to precision, analytical rigor, and the discipline of data-driven decision making? BBH’s Global Controllers Internship offers a rare vantage point on the financial engine of a 200+ year-old private partnership—where your analysis informs how our businesses measure performance, plan for growth, and deliver for clients. Over ten weeks in Boston, you will apply your technical skills to real reporting and forecasting work, learn directly from experienced professionals who take mentorship seriously, and build the judgment that distinguishes a strong analyst from a good one. Our internship is also our primary pipeline for full-time talent: many of our analysts, managers, and leaders began exactly where you would.

What You’ll Experience in BBH’s Internship Program:

  • Overview: Experience a dynamic 10-week internship where you will be fully immersed in BBH’s culture and business needs
  • Hands-On Learning: Take ownership of substantive finance work — management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, and financial allocations — that business leaders rely on to make decisions
  • Mentorship That Matters: Work side-by-side with industry leaders who are invested in your growth
  • Professional Development: Sharpen your skills through workshops, speaker series, and networking events designed to accelerate your career. Receive continuous and personalized feedback throughout the program – empowering you to grow, refine your skills, and help you navigate your path to success
  • Collaborative Environment: Join a tight-knit team where your ideas are heard, your contributions matter and your potential is unleashed
  • On-Site Presence: Immerse yourself in our company culture and accelerate your professional development with your daily in-office presence
  • Community: Make a positive impact by volunteering in our philanthropic program – BBHcares while connecting with fellow BBHers

The Global Controllers – Financial Planning & Analysis team serves as the Firm’s authoritative source for financial information. We own management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial allocations, and we safeguard the accuracy and integrity of the numbers that underpin trust with our clients and regulators. Each year, the team leads the annual budget and forecast cycles and produces the financial packages and analysis that shape year-end reporting and firm-wide goal setting. As a Financial Analyst Intern, you will join the Business Line Controllers (BLC) team — the financial advisors embedded across every business line at BBH — giving you visibility into how the entire firm earns, invests, and grows. Success here calls for strong numerical and organizational skills, a working familiarity with accounting principles, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to collaborate across disciplines and seniority levels.

What you can expect from a Financial Analyst Internship with BBH:

  • Financial Reporting: Learn the standards behind institutional-grade reporting and help produce the Firm’s recurring reporting and benchmarking. Build data views in Excel and Qlik to answer ad-hoc questions from business leaders, then translate your findings into clear, persuasive PowerPoint presentations.
  • Reconciliation & Ledger Management: Develop real fluency in journal entries and account balancing — the fundamentals that separate those who read financial statements from those who can build them.
  • Technical Skill Development: Strengthen your Excel modeling, data analysis, and reconciliation techniques, and learn to interpret financial data in ways that genuinely inform decision-making.
  • Process Optimization: Protect data integrity and bring forward ideas to streamline accounting operations — good thinking is welcomed here, regardless of tenure.
  • Collaboration: Partner with fellow interns across the Line of Business on a capstone project that tackles a meaningful business challenge, and present your recommendations directly to senior leadership.

What the Global Controllers group looks for in an Intern:

  • Current Junior in College, entering senior year in Fall of 2027, with a background in and genuine passion for accounting, finance, or economics
  • Strong academic achievement, evidenced by a GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Demonstrated leadership through academic and extracurricular involvement
  • Clear and confident communication skills, written and verbal
  • Familiarity with accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint — comfortable using common formulas (e.g., VLOOKUP, IF), building basic charts, and creating and manipulating pivot tables for straightforward analysis
  • Prior coding experience (RStudio) preferred
