The Role

Software Engineering Intern. A full stack engineer passionate about turning complex biological and machine learning data into interactive visual tools. This role is for someone who thrives in cross-functional teams and wants to shape how science and data come together at Dyno.

Job Type: Internship or Co-Op, Full-time, 40 hours/week, 10–14 weeks, starting May/June 2025

Location: Watertown, MA

How You Will Contribute

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for building internal tools and user interfaces that allow scientists and engineers to explore Dyno’s ML and experimental data. You’ll help develop rich, user-friendly interfaces and dashboards that power key research and development decisions.

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and build interactive frontend visualizations using React, TypeScript, and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, ML scientists, and biologists to understand complex workflows and translate them into intuitive UIs.
  • Prototype data dashboards and visualization components to enable data-driven decision making.
  • Create REST backend endpoints that manipulate and serve relational data.
  • Communicate progress clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Work with urgency and adaptability, balancing innovation with execution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, leveraging Dyno’s high-trust, high-impact culture to drive results.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience with React or similar frontend frameworks (Angular, Vue).
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals and understanding of frontend development best practices.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and modern responsive design techniques.
  • Exposure to Python, or a similar backend language.
  • Passion for building usable, beautiful tools—portfolio or sample project links welcome.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with scientific or machine learning data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with libraries like D3.js, Plotly, or Chart.js.
  • Exposure to full-stack development and RESTful APIs.
  • Interest in biotechnology, genomics, or ML/AI.
