The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD/ScD student to join our Infectious Disease Epidemiology team as a Summer 2025 Intern. This 11-week internship will primarily support the Norovirus (NoV) vaccines program, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-world epidemiologic research, vaccine development, and decision-making.

Here’s What You’ll Do: 

  • Gain hands-on experience in applying epidemiologic knowledge and methods to support vaccine development across the development lifecycle.

  • Conduct epidemiologic analyses to assess the burden of NoV gastroenteritis and associated outcomes, informing public health interventions and vaccine strategies.

  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Real-World Evidence (RWE) Analytics, Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), and Clinical Development.

  • Contribute to regular cross-functional discussions on evidence generation strategies for NoV vaccines, shaping research priorities and decision-making.

  • Design and lead a descriptive epidemiology study utilizing administrative data to characterize norovirus disease burden in key populations, and present findings to internal stakeholders.

Here’s What You’ll Need: 

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD/ScD program in Epidemiology or related field

  • Strong background or interest in epidemiology and biostatistics

  • Minimum GPA of 3.4

  • Interest in vaccine development, pharmacoepidemiologic methods, and data-driven decision-making

  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative yet independent work ethic

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with SAS, STATA, or R is strongly preferred 

  • Personal attributes: Strong communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, team-oriented mindset, adaptability under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
