Leadership changes aren’t uncommon, but it’s been a big month for new leaders at Boston tech companies. At least five startups experienced some leadership shake-ups this June, bringing on new members with new ideas to their teams. Check them out below.

Digital print and design company MOO hired Nick Ruotolo as its new chief operating officer. With more than 20 years of experience, Ruotolo will be focused on driving the 10-year-old e-commerce company’s operations and strategic growth. Ruotolo’s experience includes leadership roles at Vistaprint, where he helped grow the company into a multi-billion dollar business, and The Home Shopping Network, where he led the launch of HSN.com.

Placester, which provides a business platform for real estate professionals, brought on Adam von Reyn as vice president of marketing this month. Most recently VP of growth marketing at InsightSquared, von Reyn will focus on driving Placester's continued growth while building and mentoring a talented marketing team.


Talla, which recently raised an $8.3M Series A earlier this month, brought on Catharina Mallet as their new COO. The company’s AI-powered service desk software deploys a virtual chatbot that addresses IT’s and HR’s most pressing questions and requests, answering employees automatically via platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams or Talla’s own TallaChat. Previously general manager and studio head at King, Mallet also spent time as executive producer at EA, the video game studio behind Madden.

Zagster, which designs, builds and operates bike sharing programs for over 150 communities around the U.S., made three leadership hires this June. Ryan Hoppe was brought on as the new VP of marketing, while Rebecca Castoldi will be VP of human resources. Finally, Adrian Albus was hired as director of growth strategy, Prior to his new role, Hoppe was SVP of marketing at local adtech startup Nanigans. Castoldi was most recently at Brightcove for seven years, while Albus was formerly director of business innovation and strategy at Zipcar.

Qstream, which makes sales coaching software, hired three execs this month. The startup brought on Mike Provenzano as chief customer officer, Steve Preston as CMO and Tom Huntington as CFO. Most recently, Provenzano was VP of customer success at InsightSquared, while Preston was SVP of marketing at Anaqua, maker of intellectual asset management software. Meanwhile, Hunting was previously CFO of Windshield.
