Rapid7, a Boston-based cybersecurity company, announced the recent appointment of its new chief executive officer, Wael Mohamed. Former CEO Corey Thomas will transition to the role of executive chairman of the company’s board of directors, where he will advise on technology vision, AI strategy and policy initiatives.
Rapid7’s platform integrates managed detection and response and exposure management into AI-led security operations to expeditiously prevent attacks. Mohamed joined Rapid7’s board of directors in 2025. He brings three decades of experience to his new role as CEO, having previously founded Global Forward Capital, an investment firm focused on cybersecurity, and served as CEO of Forescout.
“I join Rapid7 with gratitude, confidence and excitement,” Mohamed said in a statement. “We have the customers, technology, leadership and talent to own the AI-SOC market. I am committed to driving focus on the core businesses where Rapid7 is excellent and honing all of our resources and effort into the success of that vision.”
Alongside Mohamed, Rapid7 announced several other appointments to its leadership team, adding Rafe Brown as chief financial officer, Allan Peters as chief commercial officer and Dan Deklich as chief product and technology officer.
