You spend at least 40 hours per week of your life at work, so there’s nothing better than finding a company with an office space that feels like home.

That’s the idea many growing tech companies have been gunning for when designing the look and feel of their office spaces in Boston and beyond. Whether they capture that comforting essence through a relaxing hangout spot, kitchens packed with healthy snacks, or lots of windows to let in natural light, the following Boston tech companies are doing something right when it comes to their office spaces. Can we move in?

At fast-growing agtech company Indigo, an emphasis on health, wellness and transparency is evident in the open layout of the company’s offices — as well as the fully stocked kitchen, said PR Manager Allie Evarts.

What’s the most unique part of your office?

Transparency is one of Indigo’s core values and that’s evident throughout the office. In addition to the glass-walled conference rooms that line the office, our laboratory space is visible to all employees. It’s motivating to see the magic behind Indigo on the way to your next meeting.

From the standing desks to the fully stocked, health-focused kitchen, Indigo’s office space represents our commitment to health and wellness.”

What’s your team’s favorite part of the office, and why?

From the standing desks to the fully stocked, health-focused kitchen, Indigo’s office space represents our commitment to health and wellness. Sitting in a desk all day can be uninspiring, so it’s nice to be able to stand periodically throughout the day or grab some brain food in between meals with coworkers. Our kitchen, outfitted with long tables for group lunches and meetings, is always bustling during lunch time, especially on the three days of the week when Indigo provides free lunch to all employees.

Travel tech company PlacePass is all about hospitality, so it’s no surprise that their office space makes employees feel welcome and relaxed, Product Designer Andrew Loschiavo said. Foosball doesn’t hurt, either.

Pineapples are a symbol of hospitality, so the wall speaks to our passion for delivering great travel experiences.”

What’s the most unique part of your office?

We have floor-to-ceiling pineapple wallpaper covering a good section of the office. Pineapples are a symbol of hospitality, so the wall speaks to our passion for delivering great travel experiences. Plus, it's a cheerful way to brighten up the space during the cold Boston winters.

Our conference rooms are named for rooms in the Harvard Square house where we launched the business three years ago: “Garage,” “Basement,” “Attic,” etc. They are a great reminder of our earliest startup days and inspire us to stay scrappy.

What’s your team’s favorite part of the office, and why?

Our foosball table is beloved. We have serious foos competitions daily. The games are a great way for our team to burn off steam, catch up with colleagues and get to know one another better.
