Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support patent prosecution strategy by assisting with asset identification, conducting select prior art searches and suggesting filing strategy under in-house counsel supervision
  • Compile internal disclosure materials and draft supporting documentation to facilitate outside counsel’s understanding of corporate technology
  • Identify key prior art references and analyze technical documents for freedom-to-operate, patentability, validity analyses and competitive intelligence monitoring in cooperation with in-house counsel and engineering technologists
  • Create and maintain necessary databases and archives tracking the intellectual property portfolio, prior references and technical documentation for company and the company’s competitive landscape

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of industry experience in a field relating to computer science, electrical engineering or information technology
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Proficiency in technical writing and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct prior art searches
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, proactive culture and competently handle the intricacies of a complex ecosystem.
  • Ability to travel to other office locations when necessary

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of the U.S. and International patent classification systems
  • Demonstrated familiarity with patent file history review and analysis
  • Technical expertise in software development and data-processing techniques
  • Self-sufficient, organized and results-oriented
  • Ability to meet deadlines with critical attention to detail
  • Strong written, verbal and communication skills – presentation abilities
  • Well-developed research, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Creative and diligent literature searching skills, with good information technology expertise
  • Eagerness to learn and develop
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience as a Patent Examiner is a plus
  • Ability to travel to other office locations when necessary
