Toast develops and sells all the hardware responsible for running a Toast POS system, including custom android tablets ranging from 5.5” to 21”, cash drawers, receipt printers, kitchen printers, scales, barcode scanners, payment terminals and credit card readers, stands, cases, mounts and networking equipment. As the Director of Hardware at Toast, you will be responsible for managing this entire program and a team of hardware product managers and program managers. You will be responsible for both development of new product to expand the Toast business into new areas (e.g. we just release the Toast Kiosk product), and managing the supply chain for existing product.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Hardware Product and Program Managers
  • Source and manage relationships with all Toast hardware vendors
  • Manage custom Android tablet development project
  • Manage full hardware line of business including full P&L responsibilities
  • Manage supply chain of over 20 vendors and shipping internationally

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ management experience with at least 3 years at a Director and/or Vice President level.
  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or other related Engineering disciplines.
  • Strong innovation mindset and background
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Experience in managing hardware product development
  • Ability to coach and mentor managers and individual contributors, to build a strong team and to motivate individuals and groups to achieve company goals.
  • Experience working in outsourced design and supply chain environments
  • Ability to establish and improve processes
  • Ability to provide vision, leadership and management
  • Comfortable working at all levels, C-Suite, and external business owners
  • Ability to handle negotiations effectively
