What's the role?

Team

As a Working Student - Dev & Test in HERE Professional Services - Global Solution Engineering, you will be responsible for developing and performing manual/hardware-based testing for customer projects in various industries, including Automotive, transport, and Logistics. Your primary focus will be contributing to the HERE Navigation product's Proof of Concept Development & Testing efforts. This is an excellent opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies and gain real-world experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:


Test Development and Execution:

  • Collaborate and work with senior engineers to design, implement, and execute both manual and automated test cases.
  • Involvement in both HW-based and In-Car based testing.
  • Support hands-on setup, integration, and modification of prototype automotive hardware in lab and vehicle environments
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining in-car test equipment such as ECUs, sensors, and data loggers
  • Involvement in Test Automation development using scripting (Python) or any other automation technologies. 
  • Analyze and decompose software systems to identify potential quality risks.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Document and report test results, advocating for quality improvements.

Technical Development and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate and work with senior engineers to design and develop the Navigation Client Software.
  • Involvement in troubleshooting, debugging code-related errors for major enhancements and minor change requests.
  • Establish a comprehensive understanding of the system and actively participate in Code/Test reviews.
  • Communicate complex technical solutions clearly to program stakeholders, including both technical and non-technical individuals.

NOTE: This is a 6-month working student role with 20 hours per week

Who are you?
  • You are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python or shell).
  • Good knowledge of Android development, Kotlin, gRPC, and TypeScript.
  • You are interested in automotive prototype hardware and vehicle electronics, and enjoy hands-on technical work.
  • Comfortable working in lab and vehicle environments, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Would be a plus

  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, GitLab, or Zephyr.
  • Basic experience in mobile testing (Android) and validation of software products.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle electronics, wiring, and diagnostic tools
  • Knowledge of location-based services such as mapping, navigation, and GPS
  • A German driving license is a big plus
