Background:
Pitch Labs, a 501(c)3 non-profit, works to inspire, educate, and mentor aspiring high school entrepreneurs to build their first business. Obtaining knowledge to be a successful business founder can be financially costly and energy-draining. Our 100% volunteer-run nonprofit offers aspiring high school entrepreneurs free access to our mentor-matching program, entrepreneurship support community, and resource library. We strive to create a world where anyone can be an entrepreneur.
What We Need:
In our community, we hope to establish a place for entrepreneurs to come together and help each other get questions answered and guidance on how to develop their businesses. We are looking for a WordPress Developer who will play a crucial role in delivering functional, visually appealing, and a user-friendly website tailored to our needs.
Responsibilities:
Migrate an existing content library to WordPress
Build new features and maintain the existing content library
Create custom plugins, themes and widgets
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with WordPress website development.
Experience building custom themes and plugins from scratch.
Understanding of the WordPress core, including the loop, hooks, and filters.
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery: Strong understanding of front-end technologies for creating responsive, cross-browser compatible pages.
PHP and MySQL: Strong understanding of back-end development, including custom functionality using PHP and managing databases with MySQL.
Elementor: Strong understanding of custom widgets, hooks and integrations.
Proficiency with Git for version control, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
Basic knowledge of MySQL for querying the database, troubleshooting errors, and database optimization.
Familiarity with phpMyAdmin or other database management tools.
MUST be based in the US.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Modern JavaScript Frameworks (React, Vue.js) for creating dynamic front-end features.
Familiarity with Headless WordPress and frameworks like Next.js for decoupled development.
Experience with SASS/Tailwind CSS for more organized and maintainable stylesheets.
Knowledge of using WP-CLI for managing WordPress installations via command line.

Time Commitment: THIS IS AN UNPAID, REMOTE #WFH VOLUNTEER POSITION.
Although this is a volunteer role, given our startup-like functioning, we only seek active volunteers who are energized, ready to engage and make an impact.
Please be prepared to contribute at least 5 hours a week for at least the next 6 months. As we invest heavily in training each volunteer, we humbly request that if you are unable to meet this time commitment, that you do not proceed with our application further. All volunteers must attend their department’s team meeting or 1-1 meeting every week. We enforce a 24 hour response policy to promote a smooth workflow and mindfulness towards ongoing projects/deadlines that team members are working on.
We are able to accommodate volunteers who need time off for exams, work, family events, etc., as long as these commitments are appropriately conveyed as soon as possible.
