You are responsible for being an effective part of a software development team and contributing throughout the software development lifecycle. You are self-motivated professional, with a strong technical foundation and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages. You work with colleagues to understand overall goals and requirements and can execute as a DevSecOps team member to provide solutions that meet or exceed expectations.

What you will do:
  • Architect, design and deliver high-quality code independently by following Bloomberg INDG best practices. 

  • Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your area; able to work in other areas of the codebase with guidance. 

  • Diagnose and fix production issues using observability tools like Grafana, Splunk, Cloudwatch etc

  • Assist Teams in instrumenting applications, infrastructure, and front-end monitoring using Open Telemetry.

  • Configuring monitoring, alerting, dashboards and reporting for application and infrastructure performance.

  • Interpreting the behavior of complex systems and addressing code issues

  • Communicate with the development lead to raise issues and identify potential barriers in a timely fashion.

  • Involve interacting with external customers and ability to diagnose problems and recommend effective solutions. This can include committing time to research and figuring out the best solution. 

  • Build enterprise applications at-scale using demonstrated expertise in computer science fundamentals.

  • Develop clean code to accomplish project goals that is scalable, high availability, and performant, leveraging knowledge of Programming, Infrastructure as Code, Networking, and Information Security.  

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. 

You need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.   

  • At least 1 year of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering practices.  

  • Have at least years of experience or good understanding of observability tools like Grafana, Splunk, Cloudwatch, etc

  • Have some exposure or good understanding of Telemetry data (i.e. logs, metrics, and traces)

  • Understanding of IT systems and processes, incident command systems, emergency protocols, and crisis management best practices 

  • The ability to make quick, confident decisions under pressure and analyze problems and to take command in a high-stress situation, inspire and motivate a team, and provide clear guidance 

  • The ability to communicate clearly in writing, virtually via Teams or Zoom, or in person. Depending on the role, you may need to be particularly good at one form of communication

  • Demonstrated record of successfullyparticipatingin distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.  

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies i.e. AWS, Serverless, Event Driven Architecture, SOA, MicroServices, Microfrontend, CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, and other modern technologies. 

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
