We are currently seeking an innovative, disciplined, and results-oriented VP & Senior Director, Technology - Engineering & Tech Operations. As a key member of the senior leadership team, this role is responsible for ensuring the delivery and efficient running of reliable, secure, flexible and efficient digital experiences for our stakeholders and partners, and driving the strategy, product development, and delivery of the enterprise digital content platforms. This is accomplished by working across a broad set of business and technology stakeholders to formulate strategies to continuously improve GRS system resiliency with a deep focus on the assessment and remediation of the highest business impact issues, recovering our GRS systems from incidents to minimize business disruption, and improving delivery velocity/reduce cycle time through delivering reusable, scalable engineering products and enablers.
About the role:
  • Executive thought leader that will build trusting relationships and participate in c-suite discussions, drive ideation across GRS Tech's domains and influence a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Partner with Domain and Segment Technology teams to develop multi-year roadmaps to improve engineering operations (velocity, quality, throughput) aligned to High Performance Engineering (HPE) practices and industry frameworks (e.g. DORA).
  • Lead community of global engineering across all of GRS Technology through newsletters, Community Days, Hackathons, Promptathons, and other "Lite Byte" events targeted at upskilling our engineers.
  • Represent GRS Technology on enterprise "SDLC Powertrain team" driving use of GenAI through the lifecycle.
  • Reimagine technology operations and engineering practices to improve effectiveness and efficiency while achieving global cyber assurance and regulatory compliance and meeting quality and minimum application health standards.
  • Stay ahead of market trends and leverage external benchmarks to define additional improvement opportunities in pursuit of a world-class software engineering organization.
  • Play a key leadership role in managing incidents across GRS to minimize business disruption and implement practices/processes to improve system stability.
  • Partner closely with Tech Modernization program to establish action plans to eliminate top risks, define minimum health standards, implement and execute Resiliency Plan & Governance process and deliver on the modernization agenda.
  • Drives and implements change and continuous improvement within team. Creates a highly engaged culture of technology professionals who understand our business and build solutions which enable us to achieve our profit and growth targets.
  • Own and govern the end - to - end digital content ecosystem (generation, management, agreements, intelligent processing of millions of new documents each year and hundreds of millions of existing documents) in alignment with the North Star architecture, funding model, and modernization path, ensuring resiliency, security/compliance, and measurable cost optimization across GRS.
  • Maintains breadth and depth of perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry or market trends, standard executive dashboards, and regular benchmarking exercises.
  • Formulates and executes process and organizational improvement direction on program to enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Provide technical leadership while developing and maintaining relationships with Product Managers, Solution Engineers and Architects.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in technical discipline or related experience
  • More than 15 years in a technical leadership role required. Global leadership preferred.
  • Provide strategic technology direction encompassing an enterprise view across a large portfolio of capabilities
  • Deep expertise in IT Service Management (ITSM) and the entire lifecycle of designing, delivering, managing, and improving IT services with a business and user-centric approach.
  • Extensive experience in high level systems planning, design, development, maintenance and troubleshooting with a track record of accomplishment in large, complex legacy technology that has successfully migrated to modern cloud native technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of the insurance business. Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Significant breadth and depth of technologies in the areas of: Cloud solutions and deployments, preferable AWS and Azure; Services patterns, application containers, and API gateway management capabilities
  • Broad experience across all areas of large scale, enterprise technology platforms.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of IT Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Industry contacts and participation in the software development and open source communities.
  • Experience with Agile & DevOps methodologies, tools and measurement practices.
  • Expertise in providing mentorship to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex enterprise-wide projects.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
