Role Summary

Vacation® is looking for an experienced Vice President of Sales. This executive role will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for driving revenue growth, shaping the commercial strategy, activating trade marketing, achieving channel net profit goals, and overarching leadership of the sales organization. This role involves strategic planning, thoughtful leadership, smart negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve business goals. Importantly, the Sales team at Vacation® requires a leader that is extremely comfortable with numbers and forecasting.  In order to be successful in this role you will be expected to lead a department that delivers exceptionally well-crafted retailer presentations, meticulous bottoms up SKU-level planning and forecasting, ability to tie back all forecasting back to financial planning and budgeting, and most importantly applying critical thinking and solutions oriented thinking throughout all work on a day-to-day basis. Finally, this role will exude inspirational and motivational  leadership daily, complimented with strong communications and always driving for relentless results.  

Your Role

Strategic Planning

  • Strategize, build, and implement a comprehensive sales and commercial strategy aligned with the company’s  short-term and long-term growth goals 
  • Lead the Sales forecasting process, including revenue targets, POS targets, and inventory/demand planning
  • Identify market opportunities, trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions

Selling Excellence

  • Lead the sales team for a relentless drive for achieving revenue goals;  achieving revenue growth through increased retailer distribution, new product launches, expansion into new categories, expansion into new markets, and the activation of trade spend / retail marketing initiatives
  • Lead the monitoring of sales performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve aligned upon weekly / monthly / yearly goals
  • Collaborate with brand marketing, growth marketing and product development teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and successful achievement of commercial goals

Commercial Strategy

  • Build and achieve the yearly commercial targets, including revenue, distribution, and trade spend  investment / calendar and channel net profit 
  • Successfully lead the negotiation and guidance for commercial terms and space / retailer authorizations
  • Analyze and develop promotion strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Work closely with finance to analyze trade spend through month-end close and efficient combating of deductions, chargebacks, and retailer penalties

Leadership and Management

  • Guide, mentor, and directly lead the Sales team, including Sales Directors / NAMs and support functions
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on achieving sales targets, company goals, and an overarching relentlessness in the pursuit of strong brand presence across all retail environments
  • Lead Sales initiatives throughout the organization by partnering closely with Growth Marketing, Brand Marketing, Product Marketing and Product Development teams.
  • Provide daily coaching and leadership across the Sales team h to foster selling excellence, continuously optimizing performance, learning and development opportunities, on-the job training, and career development

Retailer / Buyer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong buyer / merchant and senior leadership relationships across all retail channels
  • Sustain high level of timely and effective responses to retailers / buyers - ensuring strong speed to market
  • Cross-functionally own and support management of networking internally to marketing, operations, supply chain, accounts payable/receivable, and legal teams at retailers when needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations team to ensure on-time, in-full, and compliant shipments to retail partners
  • Work closely with Marketing, Design, and Product Development teams to execute the most successful and high quality go-to-market launch plans regularly
  • Work closely with Finance team regarding revenue planning, trade spend activity, aged receivables, and retailer chargeback / deduction disputes as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in senior Sales roles within the CPG sector; beauty industry preferred
  • Ability to travel for retailer meetings, company summits, and industry events when required
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a Sales Team with multiple layers of reporting
  • Strong insight-led selling experience with ability to author go-to-market plans
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate remote teams
  • Strong project management skills and experience managing cross functional internal and external teams
  • Proven success in short and long term business planning and commercial strategy
  • Ability to thrive in a high speed to market environment
