The Role:

The VP/RVP of Retailer Business Development will spearhead recruitment of retailers in the US and Europe for CommerceIQ’s RetailerIQ solution.

The successful candidate will own the end-to-end partnership lifecycle - from identifying opportunities and shaping commercial strategy to overseeing joint go-to-market execution. As a key business leader, the candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, insights, and retail media teams while guiding a small team of partner success and business managers.

This role can be based remotely within the U.S., with approximately 30–40% travel to client headquarters, industry events, and retail partner meetings. Preferred location is Eastern US.

What You'll Do:

  • Identify and qualify retailers by identifying pain points, solutioning with opportunities to enhance revenue through data collaboration, retail media, and omnichannel insights.
  • Develop relationships with key decision makers, and build and execute plan to close.
  • Lead joint business planning with retailers to co-develop commerce automation workflows, that would benefit merchants and brands leveraging content, sales data, media data.
  • Translate shopper and media performance analytics into actionable growth recommendations for retailer merchandising, marketing, and category leadership teams.
  • Collaborate closely with product, data science, and client services teams to shape data solutions that meet retailer commercial goals.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and manage partner relationships to drive revenue growth and expand cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead business reviews, deliver insight-based narratives, and champion the value of insights-led decision-making within retailer organizations.
  • Develop strategic account plans and oversee execution by a small cross-functional team.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10–12 years of experience in retailer business development, client partnerships, or commercial insights—ideally from a retail analytics, shopper marketing, or data consultancy background (e.g., dunnhumby, Circana, NielsenIQ).
  • Ability to open doors and cultivate relationships with enterprise accounts at executive levels.
  • Proven success in closing retail partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of retail ecosystems including loyalty data, in-store activation, and omnichannel measurement and their use.
  • Exceptional analytical and storytelling ability—able to connect data-driven insights to commercial strategies.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Results-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to influence at senior levels across retailer and CPG organizations.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with key retail media networks (e.g., Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Kroger Precision Marketing).
  • Familiarity with data collaboration environments or clean room technologies.
  • Background in leading cross-functional insight-to-activation projects across in-store and digital merchandising.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team focused on retailer partnerships or insights engagement.
  • Exposure to advanced analytics platforms and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).

Benefits & Perks: 

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is USD: $191,000- $262,000/per year.    

This base pay range may be inclusive of several career levels at CommerceIQ and will be narrowed based on a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.  

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at CommerceIQ. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock options, as well as potential discretionary bonuses. You will also receive access to:
