THE CHALLENGE

At Eventbrite, we’re creating the world’s first marketplace for live experiences. We’re a global, remote-first tech company that’s obsessed with delivering high-value products, services, and experiences to our creators and consumers.  We’re building the tools that power music festivals, marathons, conferences, hackathons, air guitar competitions, and everything in between--as well as the platform that helps people discover events that fuel their passions. Our mission: To bring the world together through live experiences. Our goal of becoming the indispensable marketplace for discovering live experiences relies on the foundation of top talent, strong company culture, and an affinity for serving both our Creators and Consumers.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a VP of Product Design to establish and drive a user experience vision for the world’s leading live events marketplace. We have a bold marketplace strategy, a new consumer brand identity, and tens of millions of consumers worldwide that use our properties every month to find the perfect thing to do this weekend. Our marketplace is powered by hundreds of thousands of unique and local events that event creators – of all sizes, all interests – rely on Eventbrite to ticket, market and grow demand.

  • We believe in having a unified design vision across our entire product – all touchpoints – for both creators and consumers. We’re excited to see you lead that vision and help bring it to life.
  • We believe that diverse teams create superior products. We’re excited to see you hire and develop amazing product designers, UX researchers and content designers that add to our culture.
  • We believe in a strong design culture, and that culture should be inclusive, energizing, and real. We’re excited to see how you add to our culture.
  • We believe the best products are greater than the sum of the individuals that build them, and that tight alignment between product design, engineering, product management, research, and brand teams is critical. We’re excited to see you strengthen the relationship between design and these other teams.
  • We believe quality and speed are not a tradeoff, and that design systems and tools can effectively allow design teams to produce high quality work at incredible speed. We’re excited to work with you to build this system and this muscle.

YOU HAVE

  • 10-15 years experience in user experience and design with expert knowledge of marketplace design principles, information architecture, platform patterns and customer-centered design
  • 7+ years management experience with a track record of hiring and developing high-performing, multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Proven experience leading a design organization through major transformation
  • Successfully implemented a design system in tight partnership with engineering to unlock design and development productivity
  • Strong problem solving skills that result in executing and deploying practical solutions
  • Appreciation of standards; proven methods and tools to enforce brand identity, accessibility and consistency across all projects
  • Deep experience working collaboratively with and influencing product, engineering, and marketing to drive aligned vision, strategy and execution
  • A portfolio showcasing a proven track record in creating consumer-focused UX that solves complex design problems that create  impact to customers and the business
  • An ability to lead a team to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and meet changing deadlines and priorities on multiple simultaneous projects
  • A strong and effective creative point of view inside the organization
  • A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in user experience, design, or other related field
  • A personal passion for live events (preferred)

YOU WILL

  • Be the leader evangelizing design at the executive and board level
  • Translate design into impact for our creators and consumers
  • Modernize and define Eventbrite’s overall design vision for a world-class experience, with a significant focus on an exceptional self-service experience for our creators and an engaging discovery experience for attendees
  • Articulate and evangelize your vision, translating into an actionable roadmap that you drive in collaboration with cross-functional partners in Brand Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering
  • Design, document and evangelize a cohesive set of design principles, patterns, and guidelines that can be utilized on all customer touchpoints to ensure quality and consistency of experience
  • Define, select, implement and utilize a design system and set of tools
  • Influence and mentor a global team, while building a strong integration with engineering, PM and brand teams
  • Build a design culture that is energized and positive
  • Know our customer and represent their needs and their voice in the product and user experience design process
  • Raise the user experience bar for all of product and help guide the design team towards superior, differentiated product experiences
  • Partner with peer functions during design and development to ensure high quality implementation and results delivery
  • Develop and design an effective organizational structure reflecting ownership and responsibilities for the design team that scales with Eventbrite’s growing business
  • Recruit, hire, manage and mentor top designers, researchers and content designers
  • Define processes with key measurable outcomes that achieve both quality and rapid time to market; partner with other departments to optimize and improve design and delivery efficiencies across teams
