Your day-to-day activities
The Vice President of Growth Marketing will be a critical leader responsible for driving significant growth in both our free user base and premium subscription revenue globally. They will also be a driving force behind our expansion outside our ad blocking and ad filtering offerings. This role demands a strategic and analytical thinker with a proven track record of scaling B2C and B2B2C software companies with a freemium model.
You will directly lead a talented marketing team, including end customer support, social media/content strategy, customer acquisition campaigns, CRO, and SEO/SEA managers, to execute data-driven growth strategies across all consumer-facing touchpoints. You will work in very close collaboration with Product Marketing, Brand marketing, PR and Product Management to ensure a seamless and compelling user journey that fuels our product-led growth engine, and further define and refine our transition into new solutions. While the Business Development team will spearhead partnership acquisition, you will play a crucial role in supporting these partnerships by ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment across all consumer-facing products. This role reports directly to the MD of the user business division (executive management board) and belongs to the global leadership team.
- Develop and execute growth strategy: Define, implement and execute a comprehensive global growth marketing strategy aligned with the company’s overall objectives, focusing on both free user acquisition and premium subscription growth, keeping in mind multiple products across multiple platforms
- Drive user acquisition and activation: Optimize all marketing channels and tactics to acquire new free users efficiently and effectively across all platforms, while ensuring a strong initial product experience that encourages long-term engagement
- Increase premium subscriptions: Develop and execute strategies to convert free users to premium subscribers, focusing on value proposition communication, targeted campaigns and in-product messaging
- Lead and manage marketing & support teams: Provide strong leadership and direction to the support team, social media/content manager, campaign managers, CRO manager and SEO/SEA manager, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment. Assure capacity and capabilities are aligned with the team. Set clear KPI’s and measure progress against agreed them. Ensure team members are actively coached and managed on performance
- Optimize conversion rates: Continuously analyze and optimize the user journey from acquisition to activation, engagement and monetization, leveraging A/B testing and data-driven insights
- Enhance user engagement and retention: Develop and implement strategies to improve user engagement, reduce churn and increase the lifetime value of our users
- Develop and support through partner growth initiatives: Collaborate closely with the Business Development team to understand upcoming partnerships and develop marketing strategies to support their launch and ongoing success, ensuring consistent messaging across all consumer touchpoints and accelerating the success of our partners
- Ensure brand consistency: Work with the Product Marketing Manager and Brand Manager to maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all marketing materials and user communications
- Drive data-driven decisions: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to growth, user acquisition, conversion and retention. Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities for improvement and make informed decisions
- Collaborate with product, product marketing and brand: Work closely with Product Managers, the Product Marketing Manager and the Brand Manager to align marketing efforts with the product roadmap, ensuring that marketing initiatives effectively communicate the value proposition and drive product adoption
- Manage budget and resources: Develop and manage the growth marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI
- Stay current with industry trends: Continuously monitor industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies in growth marketing, privacy and security to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge
- Strategic planning, alignment and prioritization: Contribute to the development of the company's overall business and product strategy, including annual operating plans. Assure Growth Marketing plans have buy-in across the organization and are cross functionally aligned and prioritized.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field. MBA preferred
- 10+ years of experience in growth marketing, with a significant portion of that time in leadership roles within B2C and ideally B2B2C software companies
- Proven track record of successfully scaling user acquisition and driving revenue growth for freemium products with a large user base
- Proven track record of successfully launching new products and/or transitioning brands into new adjacent market areas
- Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, including SEO/SEA, social media, content marketing, email marketing and paid advertising
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision-making and optimize marketing performance
- Experience with conversion rate optimization (CRO) and A/B testing methodologies
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and levels of the matrix organization
- Experience working in a global role, with an understanding of international marketing considerations
- Familiarity with the privacy and security software landscape is a plus
- Experience working in a product-led growth environment is highly desirable
