We're looking for a VP, Engineering to lead our data and software engineering efforts. This role demands a leader who bridges the gap between product vision and technical execution. You will translate complex requirements into a reliable, performant data platform that powers our analytics products. You must balance immediate product velocity with long-term architectural health.

You will report to Rameez Tase, Co-Founder & President. Antenna is a remote-first company, and we are looking for candidates who can work during US business hours. Preferably, you should be based in a US time zone (Eastern, Central, Mountain, or Pacific).

What You’ll Do
  • Deliver our Product Roadmap: Translate product vision into a technical strategy with clear sequencing (now/next/later). Execute the roadmap through a highly accountable team, balancing immediate product velocity with the management of technical debt to ensure our ability to scale long-term.
  • Cultivate Talent, Partnerships, and Communication: Lead a high-performance team of Engineers in deep partnership with Product Management, Data Science, and Data Operations.
    • Facilitate an Engineering and Data Science partnership that turns R&D, such as ML models, into production features. Do this with speed to minimize the lag between innovation and deployment.
    • Support internal analytics users such that they can configure, query, and QA our data efficiently, so we can release best-in-class analytics products.
    • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both subject matter experts and non-technical generalists to align stakeholders and manage incentives across the organization.
  • Architect our data platform for both today and the future: Guarantee our data infrastructure is reliable, performant, and solves specific business questions.
    • Ensure we are managing the tradeoffs between short-term and long-term technical strategy decisions.
    • Focus both on the data infrastructure that allows us to deliver customer value as well as the specific insights & analytics we provide on top of that infrastructure.
  • Lead AI Initiatives: Direct Antenna’s AI strategy. Implement AI technologies to enhance internal productivity, scale data collection & cleansing, and improve customer interfaces.
Who You Are
  • Expert understanding of modern data stacks, including cloud data warehouses, ETL/ELT, orchestration, streaming, and analytics layers.
  • Experience designing warehouses and pipeline architectures including handling migrations and able to articulate the trade-offs of different design choices clearly.
  • Expert skills in SQL, Python, GCP/BigQuery, ML Ops, Databricks/Snowflake, and dbt. Understands distributed data processing (Spark), software engineering design, and data modeling concepts.
  • Experience scaling early-stage technical organizations; ability to zoom into a specific technical problem and zoom out to define long-term strategy within the same day.
  • Have worked closely with Data Science teams to productionize R&D. Have direct experience with analytics products, and a deep passion not only for the architecture but also the business logic.
  • Managed remote and nearshore teams effectively while maintaining a unified "one team" culture across different geographies.
  • Built products that utilize data enrichment and privacy frameworks, such as clean rooms and data sharing compliance.
  • Experience in maximizing team output by structuring and resourcing teams across parallel priorities (i.e. squads).
  • Experience maintaining productive relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and founders and executives.
  • Strong point of view on how to best leverage AI technologies to accelerate development velocity while maintaining high product quality.
Compensation

Total annual earnings range from $250,000 - $300,000. In addition, our incoming VP, Engineering is eligible for company equity. The final compensation will be determined after evaluating a candidate’s experience, skills, etc.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
