PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The VP, Digital Strategy is responsible for articulating and governing the overall Digital Strategy of Fresenius Medical Care as well as identifying and building business cases for new revenue opportunities for Fresenius Medical Care in the digital and data space. This leader is strategically minded, commercially oriented, and has the ability to oversee technology assets from discovery through implementation in a highly matrixed environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain current a cohesive FME-wide digital strategy in close alignment with Business Digital Teams, IT Solutions, Strategy & Corporate Development leadership and other organizational stakeholders
• Govern the overall digital portfolio execution to ensure alignment with Digital Strategy, enterprise architecture standards and business objectives of Fresenius Medical Care
• Collaborate to ensure cross-vertical alignment & consistent infrastructure, as well as consistent digital technology landscape
• Drive innovation through identification of impactful adjacent digital business opportunities to support FME growth agenda. Develop actionable business cases to secure funding and resources to pursue business case implementation.
• Development of digital go-to-market strategies, competitive distribution models, etc. for future digital products
• Develop strategies for monetization of digital products
• Partner with Corporate Development and Venture teams on technology diligence of potential acquisition and investment targets
• Drive and shape the digital architecture/technology strategy in alignment with value stream leads and Global IT
• Build, operate and manage budget for an organization governed with the guidance from KPIs (efficiency), SLAs, predictability and quality
• Create a technology and business roadmap aligned with the FME portfolio roadmap as well as Global IT Strategic Roadmap
• Collaborate across the organization to ensure consistency and technology/ standards compliance, where appropriate
• Ensure that budgets and schedules are within company requirements with significant organizational responsibility for the overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, expense priority management, and the recommendation and implementation of current practices.
• Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
• Ensure all employees within the assigned team(s) understand and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations in all regions; establishing and maintaining effective internal systems and controls to promote compliance.
• Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to all direct reports to maintain an engaged and productive workforce; partnering with Human Resources on employee relations issues.
• Collaborate with employees in the establishment of clear and concise development plans to ensure succession planning and the advancement of future leaders within the organization.
• Assist with various projects as assigned.
SUPERVISION:
• Responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of a digital team.
EDUCATION:
• Technical Bachelor's Degree required (Computer Science or Engineering Preferred); Advanced Degree preferred
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
• 10+ years of experience in Digital Transformation, designing and launching global digital platforms at scale
• Proven track record of leading successful digital projects resulting in deploying customer-facing and/or revenue generating solutions
• Understanding of core medical technology and medical services businesses and associated technical solutions for provider, technical, patient, clinic and other medical processes. Proven experience of global deployment of health science/technology solutions at scale.
• Experienced in managing and leading a digital development and deployment team as well as working with and managing third party service providers
• Experienced in current and emerging technologies and their potential application, translating those into business opportunities, cases, needs and implementation roadmaps
• Strong management skills with the ability to lead cohesive and productive teams in a matrixed environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management through diplomacy and tact.
