Summary
As one of Massachusetts fastest growing banks and mortgage lenders, Leader Bank is looking for a Vice President Commercial Real Estate Lending Officer. The VP of Commercial Real Estate Lending will build and develop a significant Commercial Real Estate Lending portfolio. The position will focus on Business Development and overall management of his/her portfolio, with the support of a strong Credit Management Team. This is a highly visible role that is supported by the Management Team and an engaged and supportive board of directors.
Qualifications
- Business Development:
- Solicit, negotiate, process, and coordinate Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Lending transactions of varying size and complexity, in compliance with the Bank's Lending policies and procedures.
- Interview prospective applicants and provide guidance to complete the CRE loan transaction process.
- Develop strong business relationships with new, existing, and prospective customers, and promote the Bank's products and services.
- Maximize the Bank's profitability by building one's own portfolio and pipeline.
- Generate leads and activity through community leadership, as well as self-directed prospecting, referral generation, and new business development efforts.
- Credit/Portfolio Management:
- Maintain frequent contact with clients and ensure credit and service needs are being properly handled.
- Gather and analyze information necessary to present a financial request or application to the appropriate approval authority, including meeting with applicants, visiting loan sites, reviewing property information, analyzing financial statements and tax returns, preparing final approval requests or memoranda, and other requirements, as necessary.
- Coordinate the processing and closing of approved loans, including oversight of loan documentation process, solving problems relating to processing and closing of loans, and approving disbursements, as necessary.
- Monitor and service existing CRE loans in an assigned portfolio, including conducting annual reviews of Lending transactions, overseeing construction progress, negotiating and processing renewals of credit facilities, and contacting customers regarding delinquencies, modifications, and/or workouts, as needed.
- Participate with members of Management to develop, analyze, and finalize major or complex loan agreements or transactions.
- Present Lending transactions to the Bank's Loan Committee or Board of Directors. • Participate in Committees of the Bank, as may be assigned.
- Monitor and recommend appropriate action to changes in credit quality of assigned portfolio, including early identification of problem loans and recommendation of remedial action.
Ensure consistency in risk ratings and appropriate action plans in deteriorating situations. - Assist in responding to audit and regulatory oversight requests, as required.
- Cross Functional Partnering and Industry/Community Involvement:
- Embrace the team-oriented culture and work collaboratively across the Bank to support the Organization's strategic growth plans.
- Successfully partner cross-functionally and cross-sell products and services.
- Embrace the Bank's culture of community outreach.
- Represent the Bank in various community and civic functions to enhance the Bank's image and market share, and to develop potential business relationships for the Bank.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a Commercial Lender, including originating and analyzing Commercial Real Estate loans/Lending transactions.
- Mastery over all aspects of Commercial Lending, including originating, underwriting, monitoring, processing, and servicing. This includes advanced knowledge of Commercial Lending terminology.
- Proven success in marketing and business development.
- Solid credit skills, including advanced knowledge, experience, and/or training in analysis of financial statements and tax returns in the Commercial Lending context.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), and decision-making skills.
- Advanced knowledge in federal and state Lending and compliance requirements. • Understanding and familiarity with nCino preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
