The Opportunity:
The VP, Authorization Risk Management will lead the operation and strategic direction of the Authorization Risk Prevention team for the Risk Solutions division. This role will assist with client management and ensure our clients have consistent, professional and consultative experiences within the risk mitigation services and operations. This position ensures client experience, strategy operations, and authorization risk mitigation services are managed collectively and encompassing the needs of our clients as it related to fraud/risk strategy and analytics. This role will oversee the deployment of new products and services within the team that affects fraud activities within the authorization flow. Responsible for the strategic experience of fraud strategy operations, research and mitigation for clients and develop in-depth and productive client relationships while being an advocate for the financial institution within Velera with the goal of improving consultative services. The VP, Authorization Risk Management is responsible for handling P&L Financial Plan for division. Responsible for communicating with Senior Management regarding issues, performance, financial impacts, and service level performance to understand the impact while ensuring quality service and best possible outcomes and relationships between Velera and our internal and external partners while understanding the full impact.
Day in the Life:
Provides oversight and leadership to all members of the division.
Work directly with key leaders (internal and external) in developing client experiences that align with industry fraud trends and with financial institution support.
Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats to deliver executive level presentations using various audiovisual support aids; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Develop, evolve, and ensure strategic objectives of the Authorization Risk Management team are met along with accountability.
Execute and evolve service models related to Authentication Risk Management that encompass client needs and changing environment.
Executive presence to provide department insights, training, and client support to our relationship and sales teams.
Ensure the fraud teams have the tools and resources needed to be successful
Partner with key organizational team members and departments to understand their key business and marketing challenges, assess and prioritize opportunities, and work efforts and business impact.
Provide thought leadership in design of methods and selection of fraud data set(s) to be employed to bring insight to both internal fraud teams and member-owners.
Work closely with fraud leadership to establish department goals and budgets, with full accountability for variance measurement, impact on both revenue and expense, and execution on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Understand and stay attune to all areas of fraud and risk mitigation.
Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor and develop staff ensuring compliance with processes and procedures
Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling and termination of staff
Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement
Direct staff, to ensure that all duties are performed according to department performance standards
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Ten (10) years within the financial service industry in risk management or professional/corporate fraud required.
Five (5) years management experience required.
Experience with financial institution core processing systems preferred. Experience managing distributed teams preferred.
Five (5) years of presentation, engagement, interaction experience including both front line client and executive level engagement preferred.
Project management experience preferred.
CFE Certification preferred.
Strong business insight, influencing, client facing skills and deep subject matter expertise in the fraud mitigation, analytics, recovery and payment card industry activity
Demonstrated experience creating and implementing scalable fraud management products and services in financial services sector required, with card payments industry experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, internet browsers, linked data analysis, Project management approaches, and third party vendor processing platforms
Ability to travel as needed, less than 25%
