The world is changing fast, and so is this role. We can't fully tell you what this job looks like in six months. That's true of every role at Human Agency right now. What we need from you, no matter what: accountability, curiosity, and a builder-first mindset. If that sounds exciting, keep reading. If it sounds intimidating but you're still interested, let's talk. If none of that sounds like you, that's okay. This probably isn't your spot.

About Human Agency

We're scaling rapidly and have a growing pipeline of opportunities that demand exceptional talent across disciplines. Our mission is to bring on individuals, from creative producers to technical experts to entrepreneurial leaders, who can help us realize this next chapter of growth.

We are a company of doers. Leaders roll up their sleeves, teams work flat, and everyone contributes to what ships. Titles don't insulate us from feedback or basics. We invite critique, learn quickly, and keep raising the bar. The best ideas win here, no matter where they come from, because clients trust us to deliver the strongest outcomes every time.

Our clients' missions, products, and bottom lines are sacred. We immerse ourselves in their world, becoming stewards of their goals and partners in solving big problems. Every product, strategy, or asset we create must be both beautiful and functional; practical, usable, and designed for real-world impact.

Humans are our most valuable resource, and we only grow by hiring people who push us forward. Across strategy, engineering, design, data, and operations, we seek out teammates who raise the bar and make us better. Always hire up, never down.

We partner with organizations of all sizes to explore, design, and implement AI strategies that are secure, scalable, and human-centered. We believe AI should amplify human potential, not replace it, and we build with that conviction in every engagement. From advisory and tooling to implementation and education, we meet clients where they are and help them integrate AI in ways that align with their mission and values. Our goal is to empower teams to work smarter, move faster, and unlock new possibilities through thoughtful, responsible innovation.

And through it all, we lead with purpose, love, and adventure. We do meaningful work with people we care about, and we make the ride an adventure worth taking. Because at Human Agency, who we are and how we work are one and the same.

The Opportunity

Human Agency is building a content engine, and we need someone who can run it. Not a coordinator who farms out work, not a generalist who dabbles in video. A real craftsperson: someone classically trained in video editing who has kept that obsession alive outside of their day job, making things because they can't help it.

This role exists because we have stories worth telling (about AI, about the humans leading this transformation, about the organizations we work with), and we need someone who can capture, shape, and distribute those stories across every format that matters. Podcasts. Short-form. Long-form. Editorial thought leadership. We want someone who can go from working a camera to managing up to a founder to elevate their story. You're a humanistic storyteller who also understands media and content type.

The best version of this role isn't someone who waits for direction, it's someone who watches a rough interview, sees the four moments that matter, cuts them into something undeniable, and pitches three more angles we hadn't thought of. You'll work closely with leadership, which means fast feedback loops, high standards, and genuine creative collaboration. If that sounds like the best kind of pressure, keep reading.

What You'll Own
  • Podcast Production: Edit and produce two-to-four podcast episodes per month, from raw audio and video to polished, publish-ready episodes (including sound design, sequencing, and any supporting assets).
  • Short-Form Social Content: Cut long-form source material into compelling short-form pieces every month (the kind that stop a scroll, not just fill a feed).
  • Documentary & Long-Form Projects: Take on occasional long-form production work, from shoot support through final cut.
  • Editorial Judgment: Identify the moments inside raw recordings that carry weight, and build around those (structurally, rhythmically, and narratively).
  • Content Distribution: Handle production for relevant platforms; understand how format, framing, and metadata affect reach and retention.
  • Creative Contribution: Bring your own ideas to the table (better angles, stronger hooks, and production choices we wouldn't have thought to ask for).
Who You AreExperience & Skills
  • Classically trained video editor with a professional body of work that demonstrates technical depth, not just proficiency with the tools.
  • Fluent in industry-standard editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent), and fast enough to meet a real production schedule.
  • Demonstrated experience cutting podcasts and long-form interview content into tight, publishable episodes.
  • Track record of taking long-form source material and extracting short-form social content that actually performs.
  • Comfortable working across formats (YouTube, podcast platforms, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) and understands that what works on one doesn't work on all.
  • Experience with thought leadership and editorial-style production; you know how to make ideas feel consequential on screen, not just competent.
  • A personal or side project that shows you make content because you love it (a YouTube channel, a podcast, a documentary, a body of work you built for yourself).
Mindset & Traits
  • You can receive a dump of raw material (interviews, voice memos, rough footage) and know what to do with it without needing a brief for every decision.
  • You hold yourself to a standard that exists independent of what the client asks for; good enough isn't a phrase in your vocabulary.
  • You move fast without getting sloppy, and you flag problems early instead of delivering late.
  • You have opinions about what makes content work, and you're willing to make the case for them, then let the best idea win.
  • You're built for ambiguity: scope shifts, timelines compress, and priorities rearrange; you adapt without drama.
  • You want your fingerprints on something that matters, not just a clean reel and a steady invoice.
Compensation & Logistics
  • Remote engagement with a strong preference for Boston-based candidates given the production context.
  • Independent contractor relationship, structured as hourly or monthly retainer depending on fit and workflow.
  • Some travel required for occasional shoots; flexibility to accommodate production scheduling is expected.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
