The Vice President of Technology Engineering will oversee the design and implementation of technologies for data centers, focusing on efficiency, capacity planning, and continuous improvement while ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

About the Position:
Cologix is looking for a highly motivated individual with strong thought leadership and interpersonal skills who will assist with selecting and deploying new technologies in support of Basis of Design requirements utilized in the construction of new facilities as well as the retrofit and upgrade of existing facilities. The Vice President of Technology Engineering will be a technical resource for the President of the company as well as supporting peer organizations such as Construction & Operations. The ideal candidate will understand both the Data Center Infrastructure as well as end customers technology paths which impact design and engineering of sites. This person will assist in both technical and financial evaluations including TCO analysis, EOL timelines, validate MTBF rates across various technologies, impact to customer reliability and drive industry leading SLA’s into purchase agreements ensuring positive outcomes related to service and support of selected equipment over the life of that deployment. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles as well as practical knowledge of the operation of that equipment over its intended life cycle. The preferred candidate will have had exposure and knowledge of all key aspects of Data Center site design & engineering including Electrical, Mechanical, Security (Physical & Network), Fire and Structural elements of the solution to be deployed.

- Designing short term and long term solutions for offerings Cologix makes to its customers in line with new advancements in MEP technology.
- Demonstrate Cologix values and cultural statement to drive excellence, productivity and customer service in all facets of employment, and instill such values in all direct reports.
- Maintain a positive and open demeanor, encouraging open discourse among peers while moving team forward through change and fostering teamwork and collaboration.
- Communicate technology related business decisions including the context and reasons behind them to Executive Leadership.
- Interact externally with OEM’s, vendors, and peers requiring influence, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Assists with capacity planning, continuous improvement metrics and management, and interact with advanced operations and technical equipment support engineers.
- Work with our Energy Solutions team on new power delivery options including Fuel Cell, NG Generation, Turbines, Recip engines, etc.
- Manages to Cologix performance metrics and participate in Operational Reviews to achieve industry leading SLAs
- Interact with different organizations, customers, vendors, contractors, and building management to provide a high level of customer satisfaction
- Participate in facilities post incident reviews as required
- In concert with Construction and Operations the DTE will work to identify long term solutions to meet new evolving technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Liquid Cooling, High Density Cooling Solutions, Power design to address continued power densification on a cabinet and site basis.
- While helping to design and engineer new solutions to address power and cooling demands the DTE will work to maintain cost to build parameters.
- Evaluates opportunities to enhance site capacity and efficiency through equipment and design evaluation meeting an ROI target set out in advance.
- Demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement utilizing LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies to improve customer experience, SLAs, colocation facility uptime and network availability.
- Individual will possess project management skills related to the deployment of new technologies introduced into the Cologix environment.
- Focus on power cost reduction opportunities including commercial solutions as well as power utilization reduction management techniques, particularly cooling efficiency improvements throughout the Cologix facilities.
- Serve as the liaison between the Construction and Operations teams to the customer facing teams on long term technology solutions available to sell.
- Ensure that all customer support and other Operations services meet or exceed established standards for quality and time.
What makes you a good fit: (Qualifications)
- 7 to 10+ years of progressively expanding responsibilities and experience in colocation data center engineering, experience may include equipment design and engineering, support engineering for OEM products, or construction engineering duties.
- Individual can self manage duties, reporting into senior management progress on key initiatives whether directed by the VP of Construction, SVP of Operations or Company President.
- Must be flexible and a team player supporting multiple organizations at once and taking direction on priorities and turning those into key business drivers with which the broader team can support in a commercial manner.
- An ideal individual can turn from highly technical conversations at an engineering level to briefing key executives in a fashion that allows for key decision to be made for the business.
- Must possess a degree in Electro-Mechanical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Can deliver and translate cut sheets, shop drawings and ROM’s from requirements.
- Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Microsoft Office software applications.
- Expert understanding of all One Line or Single Line Diagrams
- Has experience on a broad array of MEP and building design software.
