Lead product strategy and engineering efforts to scale a SaaS manufacturing platform, driving execution and team growth in a high-growth environment.
The summary above was generated by AI

Amper is an early-stage, VC‑backed SaaS technology company on a mission to modernize manufacturing from the ground up. Our platform is designed to transform legacy shop‑floor complexity into actionable intelligence that empowers teams across the plant to run operations on reality, and help manufacturers reduce costs, increase visibility, and drive efficiency.

We are looking for a Vice President of Product & Engineering who can help us define what to build, scale how we build it, and lead a high-performing team that turns vision into reality.

The Role

We’re hiring a Vice President of Product & Engineering to lead our combined product and engineering functions during a critical phase of company growth. This is a senior leadership role that blends strategy and execution: defining what we build, driving how we build it, and ensuring it all scales.

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll shape product strategy, scale our engineering organization, and bring our next-generation AI-native manufacturing product to life. You’ll work across the stack, from infrastructure to UX, and across teams, helping drive alignment, velocity, and quality. This is not a role for someone looking to inherit a fully built machine. It’s for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, can navigate ambiguity, and wants to help architect the future of a category-defining platform.

While Amper supports remote work, this senior leadership role benefits from in-person collaboration. We have a preference for candidates located in or near Seattle, San Francisco, or Chicago.

What You’ll Do

Product Strategy & Execution

  • Own the full product lifecycle: vision, roadmap, execution, launch, and iteration

  • Define what we build and why, grounded in customer insight, market dynamics, and technical feasibility

  • Drive execution across fast-moving sprints, keeping builds sharp, validated, and high-impact

  • Talk to users regularly to understand real-world needs and validate ideas early and often

  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure we build what drives real value

  • Build internal systems for product feedback, roadmap visibility, and cross-functional collaboration

Engineering Leadership & Scale

  • Define and drive our technical strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and speed

  • Lead and grow our engineering team, currently five engineers, with plans to scale significantly over the next 12 to 24 months

  • Create a strong engineering culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and velocity

  • Oversee technical delivery across the stack, including our AI/ML systems, APIs, integrations, and cloud infrastructure

  • Implement the practices, tools, and architecture needed to move fast without breaking

  • Ensure alignment between engineering and product so we build the right things the right way

Who You Are
  • 10+ years of experience across both Engineering and Product, with a strong track record of senior level leadership in each. Ideally, you’ve led both functions in a high-growth SaaS, infrastructure, or B2B startup.

  • Experience taking early products to scale, from $0 to $50M+ in revenue, across both technical and business dimensions

  • Experience with IoT systems, real-time telemetry, or AI/ML in decisioning or automation

  • Proven track record of building and scaling teams, systems, and roadmaps

  • Strong product instincts with the technical depth to lead complex engineering decisions

  • Skilled at navigating ambiguity, setting clear priorities, and driving execution

  • Excellent communicator who can align cross-functional stakeholders and simplify complexity

  • Comfortable interfacing with enterprise customers, engineers, and executives alike

  • You take action, close loops, and lead by doing

Bonus If You Have
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial tech, or operations-heavy products

  • Track record of building AI-native products

Compensation & Benefits:

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is $225,000-275,000, with additional incentive potential of $45,000-$55,000 at plan. Please note that pay offered will vary depending on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amper provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), unlimited paid time off, and early-stage stock option equity.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
