Job Opportunity:

BHSI is modernizing how it manages Party data and building a foundation of trusted master and reference data. That foundation will power Underwriting Reimagined, Claims Modernization, and data delivery at the speed of business. We are seeking a Vice President, Master Data Management to lead this transformation.

You will define and own the MDM strategy, operating model, and delivery roadmap, starting with Party Data (legal entities, hierarchies, brokers, insureds, claimants, and other counterparties) and expanding to additional master and reference data domains. You will report to the SVP and Head of Global Data Analytics Solutions and partner closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Operations, and Enterprise Technology leaders.

This is a senior technology leadership role for someone who combines deep MDM expertise with the business credibility to drive adoption across a global specialty insurer.

Responsibilities:

  • MDM Strategy & Roadmap: Define the enterprise MDM vision, target architecture, and phased roadmap, sequenced to deliver early business value while building a scalable foundation.
  • Party Data Management: Lead the design and delivery of a global Party master, including entity identity resolution, match and merge, survivorship rules, legal entity hierarchies, and enrichment from third-party data providers.
  • Master & Reference Data Expansion: Extend MDM to additional domains such as product, policy, location, and reference data, with consistent standards and reusable patterns.
  • Business Enablement: Partner with Underwriting, Claims, and Finance to translate business needs into data requirements, so trusted master data directly supports underwriting decisions, claims workflows, and regulatory and financial reporting.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, and measurable controls. Work with Data Governance to embed MDM policies into the broader governance framework.
  • Platform & Architecture Leadership: Guide platform selection, implementation, and integration of the MDM solution with the modern data platform (Lakehouse), source systems, and downstream consumers. Enable data delivery through APIs, streaming, and analytics-ready data products.
  • Team & Vendor Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing MDM team of architects, engineers, and data stewards. Manage implementation partners and software vendors to deliver on scope, quality, and budget.
  • Executive Communication: Articulate MDM value, progress, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership, and measure outcomes such as match rates, data quality, adoption, and time to onboard new data.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 15+ years in data management, data architecture, or data engineering, with 8+ years leading enterprise MDM programs
  • Proven delivery of a Party or Customer MDM implementation at scale, including identity resolution, hierarchy management, and survivorship
  • Hands-on knowledge of leading MDM platforms (e.g., Profisee, Informatica, Reltio, Stibo) and integration with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks
  • Strong grasp of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and reference data management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence senior business and technology stakeholders
  • Track record of tying data initiatives to measurable business outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in commercial or specialty insurance, reinsurance, or other financial services
  • Familiarity with insurance data standards (e.g., ACORD) and third-party entity data providers
  • Experience supporting underwriting, claims, or regulatory reporting use cases with master data
  • Experience applying AI and machine learning to matching, entity resolution, and data quality
  • Experience leading MDM within a global, multi-region organization

BHSI Offers:

  • A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates
  • A dynamic, action-oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates and our other stakeholders
  • A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework
  • Benefits that support your life and well-being, which include:
  • Comprehensive Health, Dental and Vision benefits
  • Disability Insurance (both short-term and long-term)
  • Life Insurance (for you and your family)
  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (for you and your family)
  • Flexible Spending Accounts
  • Health Reimbursement Account
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Retirement Savings 401(k) Plan with Company Match
  • Generous holiday and Paid Time Off
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • Paid Parental Leave

The base salary range for this position in Boston is $230,000 to $260,000, along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
