Schellman is seeking a strategic, creative, and execution-focused Vice President of Marketing to lead the next phase of our growth. This leader will shape and execute a modern, integrated marketing strategy that builds brand equity, drives demand across the full customer lifecycle, and positions Schellman as a category leader in cybersecurity compliance and professional services.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will partner with our Chief Revenue Officer to connect business strategy with marketing execution. This is a hands-on role for someone who excels at both setting direction and rolling up their sleeves. You'll lead a talented in-house team, manage agency partners, and drive measurable impact across awareness, acquisition, retention, and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and drive Schellman’s integrated marketing strategy to support new client acquisition, cross-sell, customer retention, and market expansion.
  • Translate company goals into aligned marketing plans across content, digital, demand generation, events, brand, and partner channels.
  • Partner with executive leadership to shape strategic priorities, forecast marketing performance, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead the evolution of Schellman’s brand positioning, messaging framework, and visual identity—ensuring clarity and differentiation in the market.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team; foster a culture of creativity, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Demand Generation & Lifecycle Marketing
  • Own full-funnel demand generation across inbound and outbound channels (SEO/SEM, ABM, email, paid media, partner marketing, and events).
  • Design and implement scalable campaigns that drive qualified pipeline and improve conversion rates across the buyer journey.
  • Introduce and scale lifecycle marketing programs that support onboarding, engagement, and long-term client value.

Marketing Operations & Performance

  • Establish strong marketing operations infrastructure to drive efficiency, measurement, and insight across all initiatives.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that provide visibility into campaign performance, funnel health, and marketing ROI.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive intelligence, and MarTech innovations to drive continuous improvement.

Content & Enablement

  • Oversee content strategy spanning thought leadership, sales enablement, service positioning, digital assets, and demand generation campaigns.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Service Delivery teams to ensure messaging and materials resonate with target audiences and accelerate deal velocity.
  • Drive thought leadership, PR, and media strategies to elevate visibility and strengthen credibility in target markets.

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles, preferably in cybersecurity, information security, or compliance-focused organizations.
  • Deep understanding of marketing for a professional services-led business (vs. product-only), ideally with experience across both models.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling marketing strategies that fuel growth, elevate brand, and drive measurable revenue outcomes.
  • Expertise in integrated marketing, brand strategy, demand generation, content, and campaign analytics.
  • Proficiency with HubSpot and modern marketing technology stacks; strong data fluency and performance orientation.
  • Exceptional team leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong strategic thinker with a bias for action, creativity, and execution.  Available for occasional travel (10–20%).

Education, Work Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business management, technology or other relevant subject area, or equivalent years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Advanced degree preferred (MBA preferred)
  • Experience as a marketing leader within a professional services firm or as a marketing leader for a software company preferred.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
