This position offers a hybrid work arrangement. You get 18 remote workdays each quarter, which you can use with manager approval. For example, you might work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly. Since a quarter usually has 13 weeks, you will have 5 extra remote days to use as needed.

Position Overview

The VP, Institutional Client Marketing supports HarbourVest’s growth goals by developing and delivering marketing strategies for institutional investors. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Head of Institutional Marketing, this role focuses on growing the institutional client base, increasing brand visibility, and driving measurable outcomes with data-informed marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and carry out comprehensive channel marketing strategies for institutional investors, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, and financial institutions.
  • Plan, complete, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns to promote HarbourVest’s products and services.
  • Apply audience archetypes and segmentation models to develop and focus marketing campaigns for select institutional investor groups, adjusting messaging and outreach tactics to individual client traits and demands.
  • Leverage data and marketing technology to enhance campaign effectiveness and monitor important metrics.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Sales teams to ensure cohesive marketing efforts.
  • Support initiatives to strengthen HarbourVest’s brand presence through targeted marketing and strategic partnerships.
  • Assist in managing the institutional marketing budget and resource allocation.

Technical and Analytical Skills

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to analyze marketing data, track important metrics, and generate actionable insights to optimize campaigns.
  • Digital Marketing Expertise: Proficiency in digital channels (SEO, SEM, email, social media, webinars) and marketing automation platforms.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and collaborators efficiently.
Industry and Product Knowledge
  • Financial Services & Institutional Investor Acumen: Deep understanding of institutional investor needs, financial products, and market trends.
  • Product Positioning: Ability to translate complex investment strategies into compelling, differentiated messaging.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of compliance standards and capability to guarantee marketing messaging aligns with industry regulations.
Strategic and Interpersonal Skills
  • Critical Thinking: Skill in developing and applying marketing approaches that support business aims.
  • Collaboration: Outstanding ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Compliance, and Legal teams.
  • Relationship Building: Excellent client-facing abilities and capacity to establish trust with institutional clients.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, market dynamics, and evolving client needs.
Leadership and Communication
  • Effective Communication: Ability to distill complex concepts into clear, persuasive messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborator Management: Skilled at managing internal and external collaborators, including senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in institutional marketing, preferably within financial services or asset management.
  • Proven track record in developing and accomplishing successful marketing campaigns for institutional audiences.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.

Salary Range

$160,000.00 - $240,000.00

This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
