Job Overview:

Business Strategy and Innovation

This role will join the Business Strategy and Innovation (BSI) team where we unite strategy, experience, and innovation to enhance the overall client experience for advisors, large enterprises and institutions. BSI plays a critical role in everything from setting and executing on our firm’s strategic direction to developing and delivering powerful business services that help our clients succeed. With the goal of enhancing our client’s day to day experience in everything we do, we seek to proactively identify and address our clients' most significant challenges. Together, the BSI team works to establish LPL as the model of choice in Wealth Management.

Institution Business Line Strategy

The institution Business Line Strategy team is a horizontal leadership team that defines LPL's immediate and long-term approach to competing for and serving as an outsourced wealth provider for a range on institution profiles: smaller community and regional banks and credit unions, larger national banks, insurance companies, asset managers.

As LPL continues to increase penetration in our serviceable market for institutions, it becomes important to create an "institution centric" channel that differs from LPL's independent advisor business. Reporting the SVP, Head of Institution Outsourced Wealth Strategy, this role is highly visible and helps coordinate how LPL define and evolve our offerings within the institution channel. You will work directly with senior leaders within the broader BSI function, key constitutes in Client Success and Business Development, corporate finance, and shared support partners across the firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Help shape the strategic direction of the institution business line in partnership with the head of institution business line strategy and members on the leadership team

  • Help define segment (and sub-segment) level P&L creation and accountability within the institution channel

  • Lead executive reporting to run the business, building out scalable templates and processes to translate business data into clear articulations of performance, growth and profitability that helps leaders better understand the business from top-line down to individual segments

  • Spearhead data-driven research and summarization for business line leadership to support everything from new opportunity identification to sizing to growth estimation to profitability analysis

  • Support socialization of institution business initiatives and results to Firm Management by implementing rigorous processes around the creation of materials for senior executive audiences that summarize goals, progress and insights

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 7+ years of experience in financial services or management consulting

Preferences:

  • Commercially-oriented strategic thinker – Passion for understanding how and why business ventures work (or don’t) with the ability to identify data to model and test hypotheses

  • Process-driven – Takes a structured approach to problem solving, starting with hypotheses and identifying key milestones, partners and data needed to thoroughly and thoughtfully solve problems

  • Storyteller with expert PowerPoint presentation abilities – Natural ability to build professional and concise presentations with a focus on telling clear, succinct and compelling stories to drive alignment with senior audiences

  • Independent operator — Ability to take executive-level questions or assignments and proactively develop a perspective to answer the question or progress the work in a timely manner

  • Highly organized – Uses tools and systems to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines such that progress can always be articulated relative to completion and delays can be proactively identified and communicated

  • Finance Services industry experience – Experience in the Financial Services industry working for a bank, large asset manager, or consulting firm; specific experience in Wealth Management
