The Role:
The Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner is a key leader responsible for shaping and delivering the people strategy across critical enterprise functions. This role partners directly with senior executives to advance Moderna’s mission by continuously evolving how work gets done, ensuring the organization is designed for focus, agility, and impact.
As a trusted advisor to executive leadership, this role drives forward-looking talent and organizational strategies that unlock performance, accelerate innovation, and build the capabilities needed for the future of work. The Vice President, HRBP plays a central role in advancing Moderna’s evolution as a digital-first, AI-enabled company, reimagining how work gets done and how talent and technology come together to deliver breakthrough outcomes.
This leader will operate at the intersection of people, technology, and business transformation, shaping a workforce that is agile, skilled, and ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving biotech landscape.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, shaping organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, and performance enablement to support Moderna’s long-term ambitions
Lead HR strategy for large, complex business areas, driving workforce outcomes that enable speed, innovation, and global scale
Translate evolving business and scientific priorities into future-ready people strategies, ensuring the organization has the capabilities required to deliver on its mission
Champion work reinvention, reimagining roles, workflows, and team structures to fully leverage AI, automation, and new ways of working
Lead complex, enterprise-wide transformation efforts, aligning structure, talent, and ways of working to accelerate impact
Drive forward-looking workforce planning, using data, analytics, and AI-driven insights to anticipate capability gaps and inform strategic investments in talent
Partner with leaders to embed digital and AI capabilities across the workforce, including reskilling, upskilling, and evolving role design
Advance Moderna’s data-driven approach to talent, leveraging people analytics and intelligent tools to inform decision-making and measure impact
Collaborate across HR functions to deliver seamless, scalable solutions that support a high-performing, global organization
Represent HR in executive forums, shaping enterprise conversations on talent, culture, and the future of work
Continuously evolve the HRBP model to be more integrated, tech-enabled, and impact-driven, raising the bar for strategic partnership
Actively explore and adopt emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance productivity, decision-making, and employee experience
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing HRBP team to drive enterprise people priorities and deliver measurable impact
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 5 in HR leadership
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Proven experience advising executive leaders in complex, global organizations, ideally within innovative, fast-paced environments
Deep expertise in organizational design, talent strategy, succession planning, and performance enablement
Demonstrated success leading enterprise transformation initiatives, including organizational, cultural, and workforce shifts
Experience managing, coaching, and developing direct reports
Experience navigating matrixed environments and influencing across regions, functions, and senior stakeholders
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to lead through ambiguity, challenge the status quo, and drive change at scale
High level of integrity, adaptability, and strategic problem-solving orientation

Experience driving or supporting digital and AI-enabled workforce transformation, with a clear understanding of how technology is reshaping work
Experience leveraging advanced people analytics, AI, and automation to drive insights, workforce decisions, and measurable business outcomes
Strong ability to connect business strategy, scientific innovation, and people strategy to deliver measurable outcomes
Experience operating in a digital-first, highly innovative environment, ideally within biotech, pharma, or similarly complex, science-driven industries
