Job Description:

The Role

This is a key leadership position which will serve as the head of technology risk for FI, WI and Wealth, and in addition manage our External Audit Center of Excellence.  This role will partner with FI, WI and Wealth technology leadership to provide risk management services, including new applications, incident management, security, change management and other key technology controls.  In addition, this role will manage the relationship with our external auditors in the execution of numerous SOC1 and SOC2 reports, as well as formulating our strategy for future direction in these areas.  This role is for someone who “thinks and works across Fidelity”, is enthusiastic about tackling complex challenges, thrives in an environment that requires continuous learning, and embraces the opportunity to provide objective, independent risk oversight in protecting Fidelity.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

This is a dynamic role requiring a proven leader who is adept at defining and prioritizing risk focus areas in the deployment of technology risk programs – including incident management, proactive risk assessments, risk advisory support of new products and services, and providing overall effective risk oversight of complex business issues.

This is a management position, which includes direct reports who are also people managers, requiring the ability to set strategic direction for the team and execute against organizational goals.  The leader must be capable of seamlessly oscillating between acute risk issue response and management of longer-term strategic initiatives.  

  • Preferred is at least 15+ years of relevant financial services industry experience in roles such as Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or Business/Operational roles with a Risk Management component.

  • Prior people management experience is required, along with the ability to set direction for the team amongst competing priorities and demands.

  • Knowledge of Technology Risk Management practices and approaches is a key prerequisite – including familiarly with best practices related to process/risk/control framework implementation, risk assessments, incident management, and control validation and testing strategies. 

A keen focus on the industry and competitive landscape is also necessary to drive evolution and enhancement of the Risk team’s functions in a rapidly changing environment.  Adapting to next generation capabilities and building risk coverage in emerging products and markets is central to the role.

Essential is experience and comfort level in building business partner relationships and operating at executive levels – including in identifying, escalating, and influencing outcomes on sensitive risk issues.  Equally key are excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable communications and deliver them in executive forums.

The Team

This position is on the senior management team of the Risk organization that supports Fidelity’s Technology.   More broadly, the function sits within the Fidelity Risk Group, which includes the major Risk functions from across the enterprise and employs a range of Risk Management programs and capabilities.  Central to the Risk Group’s mission is close collaboration with partners throughout the Firm – including Business Leaders, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Security – in pursuit of our common goal of protecting the Firm, its associates, and customers.

Fidelity’s hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture. We also value the benefits that working offsite offers associates. Most roles listed as Hybrid will require associates to work onsite all business days of every other week in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to roles listed as Remote or Onsite.
